When Zoe runs fast, she runs in a straight line forward. But when she's sauntering and just trotting, she seems to almost be going sideways. Is this an indication of future hip problems??

Is it while she's on a lead or moving freely? In the dog show world, we call it "side winding." Some dogs just move this way. If it's while on lead, it can have to do with training and where the dog is focusing. If the dog does it when moving freely, it can have to do with structure, but it's doesn't mean hip problems etc.

My Sadie does it to and I asked our Vet. He checked for signs of hip problems, then started to ask questions about her personality. His honest opinion was that she is " happy go lucky " . He said that dogs that tend to be on the Goofy side do it . So who knows , my dog was diagnosed Silly.

Thanks for the link. It's funny because I had forgotten about that. I actually responded that Zoe didn't run sideways then- she was only about 5 months old at the time. She has just recently developed this goofy sideways thing.
