Omgosh! I am having terrible trouble with this, I don't know how to train her to bring the item to me, because when she smells treats, she WILL not go after toys. And I don't know how to train her to bring the item to me, and she gets a praise or, a treat. I don't know how, I am puppy training disabled. :( And everything is going wrong! I keep smacking her when she bites. :( And I can't ignore it, when she latches on! Its a reaction is all it is.. This is all when she has something in her mouth, she runs... I need serious advice from Chaz. The internet has deceived me all ready!! :( *kicks internet* Thank you for reading! I want to do everything for this puppy I can. Oh yes, chasing cats, and biting them.. ya, she's gotten a hold of poor Hunter..... Poor guy, he got out of it though.

When you chase her, its make her think its a game, if she runs from you with a toy just IGNORE her, and Im pretty sure she will sooner or later end up coming back to you..

and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE quit smacking her when she bites you.....she is a puppy and puppies bite....

What I did with Chloe was everytime she tried to mouth me, I would get up and walk away from her and also I played the "trading game" if she tried to chew on me, as soon as her mouth opened I stuck a toy in there and Chloe learned fairly quickly that there is to be NO chewing on me....

I'm sure some of the other more experienced people will have some better advice for you..

Try short tosses and as soon as she picks up the toy run the other direction (away from her) and clap and call her to you all happy. then once she gets to you don't take the toy away. praise her for a while do some tug of war, then you can take it or better yet wait for her to drop it. toss it again and run in opposite direction. as she brings it back more readily you can start to toss it farther or start walking away instead of running. Slowly ease off the crazy run till you can just wait for her to bring it back.
