What are three reasons your breed is.........

Poms:
1- I have seen other, very well behaved poms, but our dog LOVES to bark. It gets very annoying sometimes, but I am grateful because she makes an excellent watchdog.
2- Shedding. All dogs shed, some shed more then others. Some shed but you cant even notice it. Peachy sheds in the early spring. This can be kept under control as long as the coat is cut propperly and washed once in a while.
3- Not good around kids. Peachy can deal with kids, as long as they arnt all touchy. She nips if a little kid touches her too much, or pets her in a way she dosnt like. She is better with teenagers and adults. I dont know if this is true for the whole breed, but it is with Peachy.
4- Other dogs. Peachy can handle people, but she has never been comtorable with other dogs. She runs after them and barks at them, intimidating large dogs, and causing them to run up to her and sniff her, which ticks Peachy off even more. She has done this since she was a puppy.
When she was just a puppy, she ran out into the street when a brown Doberman was walking by. Peachy just barked and barked, chasing the poor dog around. In fact, the Doberman was scared at her. It just stared down at Peachy the whole time and tried to back away, but Peachy is a yappy little bugger. She NEVER bites though. Her bark is worse then her bite.lol. It will be hard breaking in the new puppy, but after a few weeks Im sure Peachy will accept the new puppy.
5- Dingle berries. Peachy has very long butt and tail hair and gets poo stuck in it from time to time. Its pretty gross trying to get it out, especially if its still wet and makes a bigger mess. :yikes: She also gets leaves and knots of dirt stuck in her fur. Those need to be trimed off. Same with the odd balls of fur behind her ears. I dont know how those form, but they are a pain to untangle and I think the whole breed has problems with that.

tibetan terriers:
1. rare. i have yet to find someone [not online] who has even heard of them. why consider buying a dog you haven't even heard of? i find most people want a dog that they've met or seen before.
2. grooming. they are a long haired dog.
3. "terrier." people who aren't interested in a terrier may never look into these dogs [actually called a dhoki apso or tsang apso, i believe]. they aren't terriers at all.
dandie dinmont terriers:
1. a dandie what? rare. only around 100 registered in the akc every year.
2. "funny-looking" dogs. most people who i have shown a picture of a fully groomed show dandie thinks they are ugly. they require special grooming [brushing, being "stripped," unusual haircut].
3. terrier and everything that goes with it.. originally bred to hunt badger and otter, these guys are intense!

Velcro dogs. They just have to have contact and are happiest when their people are around. You either like this or not.
High energy: tired dog is a good dog. They need exercise and will walk all day if allowed. Not for couch potatoes.
Rage Syndrome in some breeding lines.
Popularity has been up and down through the years, and with James winning Westminster this year, byb will be up, again, and more unhappy owners.

Lhasa Apsos
Honestly, I don't know why they're not as popular or as well known as Shih Tzus, but they're not. I didn't know anything about them myself when I bought Pinkie on a whim, but I read voraciously the first few weeks we had her & curbed all her negative tendencies as I saw them emerge which turned out well. I keep her full coated ('cept for a few little convenience trims) and a lot of people compliment her, but say they'd never deal with the grooming. So....
1 - Grooming requirements - it's actually not that bad after they get to adulthood.
2 - Aloofness - they can be quite aloof & independent and I've met many like that, but I consider that the fault of the owner for not properly socializing them.
3 - Not good with small children/toddlers - we get a lot of surrenders because of this one, but again, I think it's because of lack of socialization & letting a dog get away with negative behavoirs.
4 - "Lhasatude" - We call it that in our rescue group. That aloofness & independence can make them headstrong and hard to train which lends itself to self-assured, nasty little dogs by the time they're older, if they're not handled properly.
They have low exercise requirements, and what she does need, I can do in the living room (LOL); although she does have a fairly high level of mental stimulation requirements. I was also amazed at how well she adjusted to living with 2 older women when she was a puppy. (My mother's retired & I work at home) She even got to the point where she went to bed before we did everynight - she'd go in on my Mom's bed around 11 and that would be the end of her for the night! Used to crack us up.

I can't really think of any reasons why people don't like cockapoos. The one reason I can think of is that it's a mixed breed. And I personally don't care. So other than that, I can't really think of anything.
The Grooming requirements.....I swear he is part sheep. I can't believe how much hair that dog generates.

1. SIZE. Berners are very strong and are heavy boned. Size tops it all off, a lot of people would rather prefer a dog that is large but agile and not as compact. (Greyhounds, Salukis, etc)
2. Life span. Berners don't live that long, unfortunately. Most live to be 8 or 9, but if bought from a responsible, ethical breeder, they can live to be 10 or even 11.
3. Cancer, Bernese Mountain dogs have one of the highest cancer rates of most dog breeds.
4. Ability to train.
"Yes, I pooped on your Great Grandfather's rug. Yes, I know you've been working on housebreaking me for the past month. But you see, I don't feel like pooping on the grass today."
Not to mention how a lot of Berners are stubborn at times...
