So everyone here has seen the webpage with the 25 pictures of different purebred dogs. I posted a huge poster at the event and people were to try and find the American Pit Bull Terrier. Well the results are in and now I have more info to use as ammo against BSL.

Out of over 100 entries, 6 of them were right.

4 correct answers came from 1 person who breeds and shows dogs
1 correct answer came from a lady who's sister and law fights BSL

and the other correct answer.....

came from an 8 year old girl.

Must have missed the webpage...can someone send a link my way?

I'm in rescue, and even though there are specific bully-breed rescues in the area, we take in quite a lot of APBT/AmStaff and mixes of those breeds. Right now we have seven purebreds (not papered or anything, but most likely full APBT) and three mixes (one of which, I'm proud to say, is my foster dog). And, considering we usually have only 30-40 dogs in our group at one time, that is like a third of our dogs.

Anyways, you'll never guess how many people, at Meet-and-Greets, think the dogs that AREN'T APBT/AmStaff are and how many of them are surprised when they ask what the breed is, and we tell them.

"THIS is a pitbull...but he's so sweet..."
"What? She's a pitbull...why isn't she biting anything..."
"He's a pitbull...why is he so smalll...."

Another thing...the majority of full grown APBT/AmStaffs are between 35-70 lbs, not this monstrous 100-150lbs that people say they are. The largest APBT that we ever had in our group was about 95lbs. And he was about 10lbs overweight.

I did something like that for my senior graduation project. I used a very similar if not the same page you did, and only 1 person get it correct, and it was shear guess.

The first one they picked was a Jack Russel Terrier. Then a Dogo Argentino.
When I had told then which was the correct one, they didn't believe me.

This is the page I used.....

http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

The most common answers were the Fila Brasileiro, the Presa, the Alano Espanol & the Cane Corso. Gee I wonder why....cause they are brindle. I had people standing there ruling out the ones that weren't brindle and then trying to figure out which brindle one it was out of the 4 was right.

Yep, thats the same one i used.

I have two brindles and I absolutely adore brindle markings. Does the coloring make them look more nasty? because I don't think my dogs look mean lol.
People are just stupid, and/or uneducated.

That's a great example, and I think makes a great point. I hope it makes people in your area really take notice.

I got it right on the first try, but it was hard! I'm clicking on all the other pictures now to see what the breeds are. They're all beautiful.

It took me three tries! First I picked the Olde English Bulldog, then the Blue Blood Bulldog. Finally I got him though!

You know I've seen this same "test" multiple times, and most people pick the supposed "Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog" . . . but frankly I have never met an Alapaha that looks like that.

I am going to use the results when I need to speak at council. As a matter of fact I might just bring the 7' X 4' poster with me and ask them to pick the American Pit Bull Terrier out.

You know what the "educated" guesser would say: they're all related so get rid of every one of them. I think it would be a good idea for updated versions of that every now and then. Its easy enough for people to remember the answer once they get it right.

Cold Steel Pits has their own version on their website. When I did my project, I combined the 2 but also included different dog pictures as well.

Also, I'll find the link, but there is a shirt made up with the pics & stuff on the back so people behind you in line at the grocery store will be forced to play.:D
