I have been mixing Raw diet (Natures Variety) with my Natural Balance. Someone one told me at the Pet Food store to be careful feeding Rabbit meat because it isn't good for dogs. They said it was a type of parasite. I have heard of that for Salmon but not Rabbit.

What is the scoop on Rabbit?

whats the scoop on salamon!?
Certain types of salmon can kill dogs due to a type of parasite that is carried. The disease they get from it is called "salmon poisoning." I am from the Pacific Northwest where we have a LOT of salmon. We also saw a lot of salmon poisoning in dogs, so I never feed it no matter what the type and how cooked it is, but there is safe salmon out there. The salmon in dry kibble is nothing to worry about as it has for sure been cooked enough!

Hannah LOVES rabbit. I will pick her up 1-2 rabbits from our grocery store a month and she'll eat the whole thing. I've never heard of any parasite though. I know I've heard something about pork and parasites where you have to freeze the pork for atleast a week but any raw meats that I feed Hannah are usually frozen for about a week before feeding anyways.

whats the scoop on salamon!?
"Salamon eventually naturally Digivolved into Gatomon and became one of Myotismon's lieutenants in his army of Digimon. During this time, Gatomon's only friend was Wizardmon, a friendly digimon who Gatomon had once helped."

"Salamon tends to appear when Gatomon is too exhausted after a fight to maintain the Champion form."

I couldn't stop laughing while reading this stuff.

I think the parasite rabbits have is tapeworms, which would be found in the guts, not the meat. I also think freezing it would kill any nasties that might be in there. My friend gave me a big bag or frozen rabbit and pheasants he had, and I've been feeding them to the dogs. Gunnar won't eat them but Bruzer will, and Daisy munched up a rabbit like it was nothing.

I'll see if I can talk to that person again and see if I can get a name of the parasite. They did say it was in the meat and not the gut, though.

i would of thought it was worms, unless its pellet shot then you would have ta skin it, i wouldnt worry.

people eat rabbits also, if this was true any how we wouldnt eat it would we?
if your still concious about it ask your local butcher about it and ask for a rabbit with fur still.

or go to a local rabbit breeder, if not to feed but to read up on parasites they may carry, if any.

as i aid before people eat them so i cant see them carrying anything nasty, freezing kills all parasites as far as i no.
