The dogs of Siberia who were created by the Chukchis were bred to be good with kids because on of their roles was to sleep with the women and children on cold nights to keep them warm. The children were always encouraged to play with the dogs too.
Siberian Huskies are descendants of these dogs and for the most part carry that trait. You have a few bad apples out there but those are usually a result of bad breeding OR the dog was never socialized with kids. In general though. these guys are awesome with kids and are very patient with them. Just the other day I had Ronan and OC playing with a little one year old who was tugging on their ears and pulling on their fur to stand up and crawling all over them. They took it all in stride but both were also socialized with kids right from puppies.
None the less though, NO dog should EVER be left alone with a baby or a child because accidents do happen. While I was visiting the baby I mentioned earlier I called OC to come down from the office and as he was jumping over the stooles that were laying down to stop the baby from crawling into the shop area, the baby''s mother called him over to her and he did this very awkward turn in mid air. He ended up accidently chesting the baby who fell back. He was uninjured but still let out a wail more out of surprise then anything else. Both dogs lept up and started licking the baby all over to make sure he was ok. This could have ended a lot worse had the baby hit his head on something, or if maybe OC chested him even harder causing him to fall back so hard he hits his head on the floor instead of just landing on his bum.
