That's so awesome! Does Balou bark at all? Cinda does when she is feeling left out or when the puppy barks at her!

Nope, I've never heard Balou bark, but he does do a chittering noise when I am spending more time on my homework than on him  . He will also grab my homework sheets and go flying away with them, lol, a lot of my papers go back to school with little teeth marks in them :p .

I'm a chin owner too!

Right now I have a 3 1/2 year old female mosaic named Scout. I previously had a male hetero beige named Smokie, but he passed a year and a half ago.

Here's Scoutie:

Back when she was small.

She barks at Nikki, who absolutely adores her. She loves the dogs and loves to hang out downstairs. She's spoiled. She's got two cages in the house. One upstairs and one downstairs so she can be with everyone else. They're such cool creatures.

Scout is beautiful! Glad to hear Cinda is not the only one who barks back at the dogs. I rescued her from a feed store. She had been there forever at least 6-8 months in a tiny cage. I didn't know anything about them but she was breaking my heart so I had to give her a home. I got home and did my research and was astounded to hear how long their life span is! Not that I mind how long it is at all, that's fantastic but I was used to dealing with bunnies and they are only around 5-7, hopefully longer.

Good to see some other Chin owners here!

Yep, my friend has a Chinchilla named Fuzzy who is a black velvet that she got when we were in fourth grade. He was the first chinchilla I had ever seen and prompted me to get Scout. He's now... 10 years old (?). I have another friend with an 18 year old standard male.

I almost got a Chin, but knew I wasn't going to be able to take it to college with me, so I got a guinea pig instead. He died of old age my first semester, so the timing worked out in a morbid fashion.

I've wanted a chinchilla for YEARS! I love seeing the pictures :D

It will probably be quite some time until I get one, as I'm yet to live in a place with air conditioning and my house gets way too hot in the summertime for a chinchilla to be comfortable.

lol I think they are too adorable! :)

I used to play with the ones at work when I work in a pet store(years ago). I LOVED giving them dust baths lol That was my favourite time to watch them, they are hilarious!!

I used to have one named Yoda.. lol He was adorable :)
He was allowed to roam free in my bathroom supervised and he LOVED it! He'd jump off shelves, into the tub, around the toilet.. just loved it lol i'd hide treats for him and he'f find them all.

i have three chins, but i'm not a huge fan. they're cool sometimes but i dunno, wouldn't be my #1 pet choice.

mine are Clover, Kanye, and their baby is Ash Ketchum.

Kanye's dark grey, mean, and HUGE, Clover's i guess a mosaic? and Ash's totally white. i also had a grey female named Chewbacca "Chewy", who died about two years ago?

That makes me really sad... why did you get 3 if you don't like them that much :(

To me hearing that is just as bad as someone saying "Ya, I have a dog, he's alright I guess but I don't really like him" I just imagine the poor pet(s) not getting the love and attention they deserve because they aren't appreciated by their owner :( I hope that's not the case here, but the way you worded it doesn't sound very good.

this is my ZOOT. he is about 2 years old. got him free about 6 months ago from this lady who had an accidental breeding happen and was overrun with about 8 chins.
unfortunately, he is not the most social of chins. ive heard that some are more than others. i think because he was not socialized enough as a baby, he may be even less. he isn't too bad, though. let's me touch, feed him. i pick him up to let him run around, and then to put him back. but he hates being held.

these pics were taken last year when he was chin-sat by a friend while we were moving. we got him when we lived in an anti-pet place, and so our friend had him for 3 weeks until we were moved and settled.

Awww, they are all so cute. I used to have a few chins... I had a standard grey who died very young from kidney failure :( I also had a tov violet female, a violet male, and a hetero beige who I sold to a local show breeder because of lack of time/space/allergies =/
