Is this a good forum for everyone, or a site like seefido(peta nuts)?

ex.

- Do people here appreciate Ceasar Millan, shock collars, prongs?
- Are people okay talking about information like neutering and pseudo sexual organs?
- Newbie breeder(not for years) who is trying to do what is right safe?
- Ask questions which may be stupid or contain stupid information without getting flamed?

(edit)
Oh, and rawhides. Must be friendly and not going all crazy just because someone feeds rawhides. Also raw chicken w/ bones, vegetables, etc.

Later,
Wolf

No to the first (well, mostly no. There are some fans/propenents of CM)
Yes to the second.
Mostly yes to the third, provided you are willing to listen to the information and comments. Some can be a little harsh.
Mostly yes to the fourth.

That I think you would just have to post and see. I really can't say what the overall opinion for the entire board would be. I would fully expect some harsh responses though. Just because you're talking about killing puppies.

1)People either seem to like him or hate him..........
2)Yes to the second, most are fans of spay/neuter
3) I agree with Zoom. But I want to add, as long as you are willing to do health testing on the certain breed you are breeding and breed to improve a breed and not add to the designer dogs by purposely breeding mutts!
4) some people can be tough when it comes to breeding and training questions so if you ask stupid questions be prepared for some that may make you feel like you are being bashed.
All in all this is a great place and have learned alot from being here so I hope you enjoy it! Welcome :)

I think a person can deal with a few insults from non-trainers/non-breeders. My few friends who are real breeders seem to just ignore them, they aren't computer savvy and wouldn't post to a board in the first place though. I guess most of the good breeders I know only know how to check their email and is just about it. I guess they'd rather spend time with kids, the dogs, or other people.

Oh, I understand there are plenty of people who are fans of neuter/spaying. I didn't specify my question clearly.

2-version b) Can people talk about intact males and females without going on a "why don't you have him spayed?" contest? Personally, all my domestic animals have waited to at least 2 years before being cut.

Yes you can........... Alot of us are believers of waiting till there dogs mature before snipping them off. I am one of them LOL! But I am very big on neutering and spaying all in the same. But you will get asked that question I'm sure at times.

We have 13,000 members and hundreds of active members. We hardly agree on any one issue! You should see some of the debates we have. Generally speaking what people listed above is the consensus but as long as you can follow the rules and frame your opinions without attacking others pretty much anything goes. Even run-on sentences. :p

Hehe, yes I know.

Its like 2 vets deciding on what to do with a certain situation, they'll both argue to the end of the earth.

I can just imagine when you get all the types of people together: vets, trainers, breeders, handlers, home owners on a forum together. Yikes!

Yeah. Well this time I won't be neutering until about 6 years, if I choose a saint. I'll be showing and going to trails. Hopefully down the line I can breed. I'd love to have a carting/drafting team of large working dogs. I still smile at the woman who enters her Old English Mastiff in to SchHd trials.

Oh it's fun. And the regulars are good friends. We fight but we make up quickly. It's like a big family. Some have been here for years.

You'll find there are many members here who don't neuter because they show. They don't have any problems except maybe the odd comment about show rules and that not every show dog will be a breeder... but it's not a big deal. If we get members who don't neuter their dog and their dog is constantly running off and getting in trouble and there is no reason for not neutering he'll probably get an earful.

-Don't care for Ceasar, I just believe there are better techniques out there. I use an e-collar and prong when applicable.
-I promote s/n for 99% of dogs and neuticals are just fine.
-Every breeder has to start somewhere. But, I would like people to learn first, then breed. This takes years. I do not appreciate any posts that go like this. "My dog is having puppies, what do I do?"
-I will answer a stupid question as long as it is asked in a somewhat thoughtful manner, and as far as flaming. I don't yell, harass, or put people down, but I do like to discuss points and expect an intelligent answer and opinions supported by fact whenever possible.

As far as raw. I feed my 6 dogs raw and would never feed anything else. I don't like rawhides, but receive them as gifts from time to time. With monitoring they are ok, just not my preference.

Welcome................and what Grammy said, try it if you don't like it, you can always leave :) You will NEVER find a forum where everyone agrees with eveything. The beauty of disagreeing in a friendly manner is MAYBE, JUST MAYBE somebody will learn something they never knew or never thought they needed to learn :)
