K-9 Advantix or Frontline?

The area vets (over 150) report this and keep in touch with each other around this area as to what they have seen and treated i.e. like Parvo, Heartworm, Rabies etc...
Most vets will tell you if you ask if there has been a particularly bad season for fleas and ticks or if they've seen a lot of Heartworm etc..
There hasn't been a case of known rabies in the 5 county area here in more than 10 years.
Actually Frontline does protect against ticks.
Advantage works great in the prevention of fleas.
Advantix works great in the prevention of fleas & ticks, but the whole mosquito claim is bogus or else all us humans in bayou country would be using it on ourselves.

Frontline plus, well, same as Frontline....no real difference here other than a jazzy name & more expensive price.
The main difference between the two is that Frontline is waterproof (or moreso than) whereas Advantage is not. For people with dogs that are in & out of the water regularly, then Frontline is definitely the way to go as Advantage washes off easily & quickly.
Basically, it's just what you prefer & what works best on your animal. I have found that Advantage/Advantix works much better on my animals that Frontline, although I've got one dog who had/has a skin allergy to it so I use Frontline on him (although I see fleas on him
). My suggestion is to try one for a few months & if it works great, then keep using it. If it doesn't work so well, then switch it up.Also, a quick word to the wise: When applying either Frontline or Advantage, if you want to bathe your dog, bathe your dog beforehand & wait 24 hours before application! The product requires the oils in the dog's coat to help spread the product. If you want to bathe your dog after the application, wait 48 hours before a bath. But again, Advantage will mostly wash off if you do this thus wasting your time & money on that application tube.
And lastly, part the hair in between the shoulder blades & squeeze out ALL the product in that spot (I usually do a line about an inch long). Do NOT run the product all the way down the dog's back or else he will just turn & begin licking it off.

As far as Frontline Plus and Frontline, Frontline plus contains an additional ingredient that kills the flea eggs and larvae.
Two Vets I talked to recommended waiting 48 hours after a bath before applying Frontline.
