Well, not quite.

I am not sure if anyone will remember us, but Mojo is my pitbull dachshund mix. I've had him for 2.5 years so he's about 4 - 5 years old now. He's usually healthy as an ox, although I worry a lot about him.

Last night he was a bit more lethargic than usual, but since it was my bf's birthday, I was too pre-occupied and didn't pay attention. I went out as planned, leaving Mojo to keep my roommate company.

When I came home this morning - not planned - I found our upper hallway with 1 large puddle of diarrhea, and 5 other spots of soft poo, diarrhea and something thick and foamy. I thought it was vomit but now I am not so sure...

I cleaned everything up, apologized to my roommate (she grew up on a farm and was completely ok with everything). When I ran him outside he seemed a bit more himself. I kept an eye on him and took a nap with him. He slept normally, and when we went outside again he was much more perky, sniffing everywhere, and *seemed* okay. He even ate (a mixure of kibble and pumpkin)

However, I can't find anything that he may have gotten into. There's no food that's been ripped into, or items torn up. I guess I'm a little worried that it's something else - except he seems fine temperment wise ... save he's still a little tired.

Has anyone had a dog just spontaneously explode with diarrhea seemingly without reason? Should I go back to being my paranoid self and run him into the vet on the morrow? Or just keep an eye on him and stay on guard?

Could it be parvo? He is vaccinated.

I have had that in the past , but it was stress issues . I felt they had to go , but then got so stressed that they went in the house it went into full blown diarrhea .

Grammy - i guess it could be stress. I've personally been a little stress ball because of work. I didn't think I was rubbing off on Mojo though since I'm trying to keep my temper/frustration in check when I am around him. I will just keep an eye on him for the next few days...

Thanks for answering...

well my friend lost her rottie to parvo on saturday and has 2 more of her dogs at the vets on drips with it, apparently there are certain breeds that the vaccination has little effect on so it may be worth getting him checked although if it is parvo you will know soon enough as they go down hill quickly.
Lets pray your theory is right and he is ok.

Hey! Well, I was going to say it was good to see you back and posting, but, unfortunately, it's not for the right reasons!

How is Mojo now?

(psst, give us an update on you in the Fire Hydrant... I hope you're doing okay!)

Mojo's back to normal.

He's circling, bouncing around and pestering me. I am going to call his vet today and just let them know that he had this episode... but since he's acting "normal" I am not going to add to his stress by getting more stressed out about him.

Stress is a vicious circle.

Maybe he just had an off-day? I know that sometimes I come down with some horrible stomach thing, seemingly out of the blue.

Glad he's feeling back to normal!

Now, how are YOU doing? :D

Seems like you have everything under control...glad mojo is feeling better!

Oakley had the same thing happen to him, and he was in his crate when it happened, and there was poop flung everywhere, and vomit too...all over him as well...ugh, talk about a stinky, dirty dog...luckily not *too* much was on him...

The vet put him on canned food for a few days, but i think he woulda been just fine without it.
