MY SALAMANDER HAS HER MOUTH OPEN WIDE AND ISNT CLOSING IT I AM SO WORRIED WHAT IS WRONG?? SHES ALIVE BUT IM AFRIAD SHE IS GOING TO DIE!

is it possible he got a pebble stuck in his mouth or throat, you should look and whether or not you see one, i agree he should see the vet.

How long has it been doing this? I agree with the temp. check that it is not to hot.
It may be hard to find a vet that treats salamanders but you may look anyway.
See if she eats or drinks at all too.

No, the water is definetly not too hot.
I took her out and held her and she closed her mouth.
It is not time for them to eat, they will get extremely bloated because I am having them on a diet and they can only eat at certain times so they do not get bloated.
She lives in the water so they do not drink, they soak up water through their skin and she is in the water at all times, so if that is how you want to say it, yes she does drink
She is acting fine and I see nothing wrong besides her mouth being open.
She is getting oxegen and there are no vets around here that specialize in amphibians.

you know that these guys need filteration, good quility water, etc.
what are your ammonia and nitrites in your water? what is your ph?

even look up a basic caresheet on the firebelly newt.

how often do you clean it?
do you de chlorinate the water?

My sister's iguana used to do that when he was in 'prey' mode or aggressive about something. He'd do it when he saw his reflection in the mirror or if one of our other pets was near. Is there anything different in his surroundings?

I took her out and put her in a container. I had her with me when I called 2 vets in case they asked a few questions. She closed her mouth and had a lump in her throat for a while, but when I looked before I put her back in there was no longer a lump. When she went back in her mouth went right back to being open. Maybe it is a territorial thing like Saje said.

There was not anything different when she started doing it, although she did live with 5 other salamanders so that may be it. We just got two new ones, but she was doing it before we got the two new ones.

The tank is filtered.
It is 29 gallons.
I clean it weekly, usually, but since we moved it hasn't been cleaned for a little while.
Yes, I do de chlorinate the water, of course.
