Hello. I have a cage that is 19 inches height and 15 inches width. The bars are 1/4-1/2 inch apart and there are 3 levels. The levels are made out of bar like the rest of the cage. Will their feet get stuck in the bars when they walk up the levels? Will they be able to get out of the cage with the bar spaces being so big...or are they big?
If it wont work, its for sale for $25 + shipping, PM me if you want it! :D (It will work for large hamsters, 1 large bird, or a small rat).
Picture below.

Rats dont always need to live in pairs. I know people with one rat and if you dont have them in pairs they just need extra time with their (human) mums or dads.

stop arguing even though you say your not, you are. Rats should live in pairs, just like gerbils, but they can do fine alone, although not as good as when in pairs. There have been scientific experiments showing rats in pairs are more active and have a greater appetite and live longer than those that live alone. Yes rats can live by themselves but may not live as long as rats in pairs. With lots of human interaction they willl be active and maybe not sooo lonley but a person cannot sleep with the rat and groom the rat, nor does a human speak "rat". I'm not saying that people who own only one rat are bad rat owners, i am saying they could be much better rat owners by having two together.
