Well I always knew I hated and I mean HATED the our neighborhood and most of the people in it!

Okay so let me give you some info here about WHAT happend.....

Well, My dad is going for a walk with my sis Lacey, and he stops to talk to some guys on the street who were talking, okay. Well one guy...I do not remember if you guys remember me saying this guy has a dog that he lets roam the neighborhood with him out there and then they leave the dog outside there ALL day with no one there...Anyways, He is talking about his cat that was REALLY hurt by a pit on our street, well okay I understadn he is mad and all but ARE YOU JOKING the owners payed ALL the bills for the cat's surgery and stuff with cheerful hearts and wanted to help...okay....well he is STILL mad at this guy and says " I do not trust pits they could turn on you any minute now and I do not want it out and around my kids" okay this pit probably came from a Fighting home and was is VERY bad shape when they took it in....now it has some DA and they are doing all they came to help with it but they have another pit that cam from a good breeder and it is SUCH a big baby and LOVES dogs and people!

And what REALLY Erks my is that He is saying all this and that ALL pits are SOOOO DA and and can turn on you ANY min! Even the vet he went to said that!

And now our other neighbor says that pits are EVIL!!! AGH!!!!!

Now the owner of the cat has a VERY DA Golden and it bit the pit in the rear and the pit did what....NOTHING!!! And he still says that pits are DA and he does not want a DA dog or pit around his kid and animals! How STUPID can he be!!! He is saying all this BAD stuff about other dogs that are DA and he has a VERY Da dog himself and he is doing NOTHING about it! *goes and bangs head up the wall*

Ugh we do people have to be like that!

Sorry vent over.

As they say.....Ignorance is bliss.....

This guy sounds like he's pretty flippin blissful, it's so much easier to believe what your told instead of learning for yourself.

Some people need a good smack of reality:rolleyes:

No matter how cheerful a dog owner paid my cat's vet bills i would be furious if my pet had been harmed by someone's dog. That doesnt' mean he had a right to blanket statement the whole breed.

Anyways, He is talking about his cat that was REALLY hurt by a pit on our street, well okay I understadn he is mad and all but ARE YOU JOKING the owners payed ALL the bills for the cat's surgery and stuff with cheerful hearts and wanted to help...okay....well he is STILL mad at this guy

Gee, I wonder why? If my cat was so badly mauled by a neighbor's dog that he/she needed surgery, I wouldn't care how cheerful-hearted (wtf? who cares? they probably did it to cover theis a$$ anyway) the neighbors were, I'd still be angry at them too. Especially if they were trotting around the neighborhood blabbing about how their poor snookums baby pittie was so badly abused in a terrible fighting home and they had RESCUED it and oh, by the way, did you know that the jerk who made such a fuss about the cat thing actually has a GOLDEN (like they're so perfect) who BIT their pittie in the butt, poor snookums??

Face it. The pit bulls' owners have absolutely no leg to stand on when it comes to righteous indignation. Their pet tried to kill this guy's pet. This guy sounds like a jerk, letting his dog run loose, but he's got a perfect right to freaking hate those dogs and be bitter about the whole breed, based on his experience and the fact that there is a group of people who are his neighbors too, people he might feel should be sympathetic to him and his cat, who are gushing about poor pit bulls and how great they are. He might not be 100% in the right, but neither are you and your pitbull owning neighbor, and I think you could show some compassion toward his situation.

I don't know. I guess it would depend on the situation, which I can't really ascertain from the original post. If the pit was running loose, I would have a different opinion than if the cat were injured on the dog owner's property.

I live next door to a family that has 5 cats that come into my fenced yard all the time and I have to be crazy vigilant to make sure none are mucking around when I let my dog out. If my dog were to injure one of them, I don't think I would even offer to pay the vet bills. I wouldn't be happy about the situation and hope it never happens, but if it does it's my opinion that the onus in that situation falls solely on the neighbor.

If someone's loose dog had attacked my cat, I would be FURIOUS. If you have an animal- or human-aggressive animal, YOU are responsible for its actions. The pit bull owner paid the vet bills; good. But that's not making some huge, generous sacrifice. That's what he was responsible for anyway since the cat was attacked by HIS DOG.

Because of the dangers outdoors, I keep my cats inside, but if they did get out or if I was walking them and they were attacked by a dog? I would kick, hit, and attack the CRAP out of it until it backed off. I love animals, including dogs, but if one is attacking MY ANIMALS I'm going to do whatever it takes to protect them. Good for the golden retriever for biting it. (I'm assuming this happened while the pit bull was attacking the cat, not in a separate instance.)

I don't believe pit bulls as a breed are monsters, but people value THEIR OWN EXPERIENCES the highest. This guy saw his cat being mauled and, put together with all the bad publicity pitties get, naturally leapt to the conclusion that all pit bulls were "like that."

Who's fault is it that this man has a bad impression of pit bulls now? The pit bull's owner, that's who.

Edit: I'm not sure from the original post if the pit bull or the golden retriever was the one who was allowed to roam loose. Or both? If the guy with the golden retriever allowed it to roam, that too is COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE.

But! Unless the pit bull was in its own yard when it attacked the cat, the pittie's owner is also irresponsible. People who can't properly contain or control a dog-aggressive, cat-aggressive, or human-aggressive dog should not own one!

I understand what you guys are saying but he says that "ALLLLLLLLL PITS ARE LIKE THIS!!!"

And This dog has gotten out maybe 2 times in a few years.

I would be Mad like mothing ever before if this happened to my dog or cat too BUT He is saying the dog did that because it is a PIT!!!

Oh, and neither the pit or golden is roaming the neighborhood The golden's owners have another dog that is allowed to roam the neighborhood...But the pit is NOT human aggressive just dog and now cat. The pit is very sweet to people...I have Dog-Sat for him before and he loves people :) So does the other pit they have....he is a BIG baby with EVERYTHING....he LOVES Lizzie and they do play bows all the time if he gets out.

2 times for any dog to get out is to many, but it's extremely stupid for any pitt bull owner. I live in Ontario where there is a pitt bull ban and owners here are smart enough to realize that even if thre dog gets out once its once to many and looks bad on the whole breed. Please don't say "maybe 2 times" likes its not a bit deal, because it is a HUGE deal to people who are trying to be responsible and show our goverment that the breed ban is crazy.

The fact that they know the dog came from that type of situation tells us even more than they should have known better. It is sad the neighbor now thinks all pit bull are bad, why don't we complain to the neighbors who did not take care of there dog properly and keep him contained for causing the neighbor to get that opinion?

If anyones dog was roaming the neighborhood here I would be making sure that every time it got sent to the pound. Let them pay to have the dog back. Maybe you don't have leash laws there?

If this guy lets his dog wander the streets, I'm pretty sure his cat goes anywhere it wants as well. Thus, it is the OWNERS fault if his cat got attacked if it was anywhere but in his house or yard.

It is also wrong to equate animal aggressiveness with human aggressiveness. There is NO correlation between the two.

It's a shame that stuff like this happens, but there is always 3 sides to every story. Their side, your side, and then the absolute truth.

Some guy told me that I shouldnt walk my dog on public roads because he looked aggressive.

I suggest just ignore the morons who tell you what to do with your dogs :)

I agree with orion (hey, I've had the same thing said to me a while back. what fun!)

People like this will turn a deaf ear to anything you say about the situation, so its best to ignore it and move on

I can never get over the irony of people on a dog-obsessives' forum saying a dog is just dog-aggressive, as if it's ok that their dog kill your dog. I've had one dog badly traumatized and one dog mauled nearly to death by dogs who were just dog-aggressive. And lots of people have had dogs killed, sometimes right in front of them, by dog-aggressive dogs. Yet the attitude is often that the dogs who deserve protection, who need our help, are the DA ones. Bull. A dog-aggressive dog should be put down in this situation -

And This dog has gotten out maybe 2 times in a few years.

A dog as athletic and determined as a pit bull should not be 'getting out' in any case, and if he's proven himself to be so dog-aggressive he attempts to kill other dogs, once is too many times for an 'oops, he got out the gate.' I'm sure the owners love the dog, but they don't have a right to 'oops' accidents when their dog has the desire and often gets the opportunity to kill other people's beloved dogs.

Sorry I was just venting on the fact that all the people in our neighborhood and most of the people I know think that ALL pits are BAD AND MEAN! :(

I totaly agree with you guys...Yes the pit had NO right to do what he did to the cat........It was TOTATLY WRONG!!!

Sorry I let you guys have the wright idea of what I was saying....I was really just trying to state that all the people I know have NO idea when it comes to pits and they say they are all mean, evil, bad, ect.

I agree the pit has NO rights in the situation....it was the owners fault....but I jsut HATE the fact that everyone does not like pits when they have not even had a chance to get to know one that is a friendly and a loving pit!

What an IDIOT! I totally know how you feel about this pit thing....
Sarah (my friend) and I were walking her pit bull Rupert & my boxer Georgia around and we passed this house that had junk in the driveway. This lady has 7-8 dogs a GSD (big sorta fluffy dog), Beagle, Chow Chow, Lab looking dog, 2 Chow/Lab looking dogs, Shar Pei mix looking dog, and that's all I saw. But I think they had more... and her HUGE and I mean really big German Shepherd attacked Sarahs GSD Max before. So she says "Walk your dogs somewhere else or I'll let them out and they're hurt your dogs", so I said, "This is a public road & we've got our dogs completely under control", Sarah said "They're on leashes" then she said, "Fine I'll let them out", and this is a grown women, no teenager or kid, an ADULT. "That's illegal so good luck with that" I said. Then she said "And don't let those two vicious pit bulls attack my dogs. And if mine attack yours I'll blame those pit bulls. And they'll get taken away!", "THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!" Sarah screamed at her. "Actually, pit bulls are some of the sweetest dogs in the world" I said and then she said "We had a pit bull in this neighborhood kill a dog and a cat before". "Well that's the owner's fault" I said and then she screamed at me (YES STILL AN ADULT!) "Shut up!". Sarah (VERY UPSET BY THE WAY) said "WHY DON'T YOU!". I was steaming... Sarah was crying. My mom was talking to their neighbor (a police women) and I'm not sure if she talked to that... idiotic lady, too. UGGGGGGGH! Why do people have to blame pit bulls? This whole thing was about pit bulls and how she thought they were scared of them. And Georgia isnt even a pit bull!

So I really know how you feel...
stupid people

I just think that when it comes to "bigger" breeds people are ignorant. They don't care to find out anything about the breed and the good things about them.. they listen to tv and read articles warning them of the dangers of these dogs. It's silly IMO.

Now, I own small dogs and mine are thankfully pretty well behaved... but the other day I was walking them and saw a little chi snarling away at my pups. The owner goes Isn't that so cute? He wants to play!!

I was shocked. Yeah he wanted to play with his fangs bared and lunging at my pups. Don't think so.
