Britches is all the way at the bottom.

Breed: Terrier Mix
Age: Adult
Adoption Fee: $20

This animal is scheduled to be unavailable after 4:30 pm on November 29, 2006.

I am willing to foster this dog (if it isn't incredibly dog aggressive), but I live in Illinois.

Is there anyone on here that is closer to Georgia that could help transport him?

Please cross post it.

DogSty, would your parents be willing to transport him from some part of Georgia to another? If someone can pick him up at Spalding County, maybe they could transfer him to you and then your parents could drive him a little bit closer to Illinois or to an airport.

Also, maybe try contacting any dog schools/rescues in the area and find out if there is anybody who could get him to the airport for you? I know that is the kind of thing we would have done when I worked at a dog school.

I emailed this out to a lot of Georgia rescues. Please pass it on:

"Hi,

I'm contacting your organization to try to save a terrier mix that will be put down on 11/29. I would like to arrange either ground or air transport from the Spalding County Animal Shelter to either an airport or another area from which the transport could be continued.

Britches (at the bottom) is the adult, male, terrier mix in question. I am willing to foster him for as long as is necessary, but I would really appreciate any help in saving this dog's life.

Thank you"

I can transport across NC. As long as there is someone who can get him from me in NC. I live in an apartment and have another dog, so the max I could keep him is one night.

Here is a proposed route of transport, we only need to move him three states:

1) Spalding County (south of Atlanta) to Chattanooga, TN
-Duration: 3 hours, 31 minutes
-All highway (Rt. 75)

2) Chattanooga, TN to Nashville, TN
-Duration: 2 hours, 42 minutes
-All highway (Rt. 24)

3) Nashville, TN to Bowling Green, KY
-Duration: 1 hour, 17 minutes
-All highway (Rt. 65)

4) Bowling Green, KY to Evansville, IN
-Duration: 2 hours, 37 minutes
-William H Natcher Pkwy, Audubon Pkwy

5) Evansville, IN to Newton, IL
-Duration: 2 hours, 29 minutes
-IL130 North

I will pick him up in Newton and hold him until one of you guys decides to adopt him! (Showpug...come on!)

I live in georgia... get a plan in place. We can pull this off, it will be like a relay. I'm in north georgia... close to tennesee line. It may take several days to get him to you, but I really think we could do this if everyone who lives along the route can help with the transport across the states. Let me know what I can do to help!
