I love my dogs so much and in very, very different ways. But I do think my bond with Millie is tighter. Like Squid said I've had her for so long she knows nothing else. I've actually had her from day, hour, minute one. The bond I have with her is so overpowering.
I love Lucy so much, too, and we are getting closer each and every day as our bond grows while time passes. But Millie is absolutely devoted to me while Lucy is more independent.
When I look at my dogs, especially Millie, my heart just fills up and I beam. All the pain that I've felt in my life is no longer left a gaping hole. I will always know of my dogs as my soul savers. Sometimes I just have to give them an enormous hug and tell them how much I love them. I can't help but cry when I think of the day I will lose them. I don't know how life would go on without my babies. . .
Millie is absolutely my heart dog, though. . .she is from Mandy who I lost at such a tender age, and she has saved my mom's heart and soul as well when she was going through cancer. Millie would tuck her in with her snout and guard her, and run and bark to people when my mom was having a spasm or vomiting and choking from all the side effects on chemo and radiation. She always protects me when I am scared and I know my girl would do anything for me. Millie is like an alert dog, when there's something wrong with me or my mom she knows it even if we don't. She is just a pure gold heart of love.
I can't say I love her more, but I love them SO differently.
Lucy is a quite a character and she is so comforting when I am having a panic attack. I just reach down under the covers and feel her breathing and it calms me down. We are bonded very much and it grows each day. She is endlessly entertaining and she is quite a character. But she can switch into a cuddly, comforting, calm mode. She is sooo loveable.
I love my dogs.
Wow...just wow! That is VERY touching Virginia!:) I almost started crying when reading it! You could just read the love in your post...:)

Yes. No. Yes. I love things about each dog differently. Dakota was my first husky, so he will always have a very special place in my heart. I dont love each dog less then another, I just dislike certain traits about them. Like Dakota isnt the greatest runner. Or Aurora's animal agression. Or Ranger's excitability. Or Babylon's bad habits. Or Cider and Snowball's chewing problems. And love other traits. Like Aurora's hugs and kisses. Dakota's calmness. Gremlin's velcro like ways. Ranger's work ethic. Snowy's sweetness. Babylon's smarts. This dont mean I love each one of them less then the others! To me, they are all equal, and I, equal to them. (True, I am the Alpha dog in my pack, but when around them, I act like dog, not a human. I correct them with a growl, not no, and talk to them in almost a bark-y voice.)

Having had both my 3 two legged kids and my many four legged kids it's easy for me to answer . You love them all equally but have special connections with each . Your heart dog is the one with a constant connection . Something no child nor many dogs can give . Of my many Goldens , I had two heart dogs. Bushwacker and Bubba. Bubba spent more time one on one with me through hard times . I whelped both of them , many years apart . They were just special , but I didn't love any of the others less. Don't be afraid to open your heart to another dog . When you have your first baby ,you wonder how you could ever love your next as much . You do .

This IS a tough question, but grammy is right about how you love each of your dogs for different reasons... As for Cody, I used to "abuse" him (pull his ears, put him in my baby carriage, ect) when I was little(around 2) so he doesn't like me very much cause of that... He does sleep with me occasionally and of course we have a special bond but he is more of my borther's heartdog... And for Dillon, he is totally MY dog! We have a bond that you couldn't believe. He follows me everywhere and although not literally all the time he always follows me with his eyes. We sleep together and kiss eachother about 1,000 times a day, lOL... He loves all of my other family members but he shows me the most affection of all...

I hate to say it, but I have a different connection with Bentley, than with Emma. Bentley, from the moment I saw him... I knew I had to have him. It was on a whim, not thought out, and i didn't even give my asthma a second thought, I just knew he had to leave that place with ME.

From the moment I sat his comfy pet bed on my lap with him nestled up in it on the drive home, my heart melted. Knowing this was the first comfortable spot he'd ever laid in broke my heart and I promised him I'd always take care of him.

He pulled me out of a depression and helped me to get better. For this reason, I think I have a stronger bond with him.

I love each of my dogs the same and would do anything for them, but there's something special with Bentley that melts my heart <3

I think I love them as much, just differently... They are both very different... Boris will always be Boris, our first dog, but Tips is very loveable, so no, I don't think I love one more.

I don't think it's wrong though... I think it's quite normal to be more attached to a dog we have more of an 'history' with. Same for cats, I am definitely much more attached to my cat, which I brought from France, than to my husband's cat.

Yes. Walker is completely mine. I love the others but they arent mine even booger who was suppossed to be mine shes my step moms i have distanced myself from her because i know she isnt going to live past 3. So to keep from getting hurt i keep her at bay. Thats mean i know but its a means of survival.
Walker on the other hand. I would give my life for him. Each year he gets closer to growing old hurts so much. If anything happened to him I seriously have no clue how i would survive. It is not dog and owner it is two souls united. All i have to do is think something sad and hes in my lap or even think of him across the house and he comes running. Its so hard to explain what i have with him. Its pure, unconditional perfect love.

I'm actually in the "love them equally but differently" boat. Tamlyn and Cissy are the loves of my life. But each of them are that for very different reasons.

Tamlyn has been in my life since I was 16 and he was 5 months old. He was supposed to be mine, but he bonded more to my mum. Still, he manages to leave a little love for me. He's watched me grow. My fondest memory of him is when I had a miscarriage and he parked himself in my bed with me. My mum would have to literally pull him away so he could go pee and poop. Once he was back, he would head right back up and come cuddle up with me in bed. He and I still cuddle these days, but it's not a common occurence. Still, I love that little old man more than life itself.

Then there's Cissy. She is most definitely my "baby". I think we bonded rather strongly because I've had her since she was a sickly 8 week old puppy. I was the one who stayed up with her at night when her kennel cough kept her awake. I'd be a complete zombie at work the next day. But if she couldn't sleep, I wouldn't allow myself to sleep either. We've also both been learning things together. Her to behave well and me to be more patient with her and Tamlyn.

While I love Tamlyn's more mellow and quiet personality, I also love Cissy's joie de vivre. They have both enriched my life in more ways than I can describe. As I wake up every morning and watch them scrambling about the house, my heart fills up with so much love for them. And try as I may, I can't imagine my life without them. :D

Shelby has been with me 11 years. She means way more to me then Spanky and Bandit. I am sure when they are 11 and if I get another pup I'll love them more. Between the pups though I am way more bonded to Spanky. I adore Bandit too but his farts smell rancid.

The simple truth is yes...

I love Gus more than life itself, I would do ANYTHING for him. He is almost my entire world.... We have a bond that I would say is more powerful than a mother and child, I live for Gus and the feeling is mutual. It is complete trust and comfort all rolled into one, and he shows it because he would do anything for me.

If someone made me choose between him and Christian it would be Gus hands down... That sounds awful, but it's the truth!!!!

I love Perle, but I don't know if it's because she is Christians dog, or what really, I just don't connect with her... She is sweet and loving on her own terms.... But not my whole heart like Gus is.

There will never be another dog for me that will equal Gus!

I love all 3 equally. They all have their good traits and quirks that make you love them. I spend a lot more time with Gunnar though, and he's my preferred companion, but it's because we do so much training and exercising together. He's at my feet as I type this, which is how it always is.

I love my three equally, too. I raised all of them from puppyhood to now, and always make a conscious effort to never love one more than the other. I divide my attention equally to them, and love them just as the same.

However, each has their own traits and interests; Therefore, they have different ways to express their loves for me, and I for them.

So, I do find myself spending more time hugging & snuggling with Mocha, because he is the sweetest, and a definition of a velcro-dog. He always follows me close wherever I go, he waits at the bathroom door if i'm in there, he stares at me for hours with such love & adoration, and he's the one who will not pass a chance to sit on my lap for anything, even food!! So, when Mocha is on my lap, and getting soothing strokes from my hands, he knows that I love him best :D

I spend more time playing with Missy, because she is a very active girl, and would prefer to play rather than just sitting around in someone's lap! Her passion is ... her ball & the game of fetch! Her face lights up when I start the game, and that's how she knows that I love her best :D

At 3 months old, the way to Muffin's heart is through her stomach :p, she also occationally needs some reasurance when Mocha & Missy are playing a little rough.. A good bowl of food, some fresh water, and a scoop up to bring her close to my heart when she needs my protection is how she knows that I love her best :D

As I type this, Mocha is on my lap, and Muffin is playing ball with Missy. I'm surrounded by love.

Oh, Life is so sweet, and I'm so thankful!

Yes I do.. I love Binn more then Stella.. :p
hehe.. probably because you've had Binn for a while and just got Stella, she doesn't have enough time to grow in your heart. I got Mocha & Missy on the same day when they're both about 8 weeks old - it's impossible to love one more than the other :) Even though I got Muffin a bit later, but she grows fast in my heart to catch up with the other two, so right now it's impossible to love her any less..

Interesting... I only have one dog now, and I love him so much my heart could almost break! But, I felt that way about my childhood dog too, and sometimes I think of her and almost feel guilty for loving Hudson so much.

I have had mary from her first breath. She is the mother team with me, she has belonged to the whole family and responds in like to each one of us. Bronki on the other hand had eyes only for me. Somehow i believe he was sent to walk me through a particularly difficult time in life. He was so calm and noble and wise. EVen as a puppy he was not silly. I think that was what made the difference.
