I was petting Lucas near his back end and he yelped really loud, put his ears, back and jumped. :( It's his left knee....I felt that area again and again he yelped :(

He's been limping a little more on that side and I just noticed when he stands still he leans all his weight in the back on his right side :( I mean he is putting almost NO weight on that leg when standing still! When walking he kinda hops so there isn't much weight on it :(

I gave him an aspirin and am gonna have to see if the vet's open tomorrow.

I was thinking x-ray his knee to see what's going on.....what do you guy's think?

I'm sure the vet will say what they think. I just wonder what's wrong. I don't think it's the arthritis, especially since it's been bothering him a while. I hope it's nothing too bad!

He could've, he's usually left in my room when I'm gone, but sometimes he get's run of the house except the rooms and there are some slipery surfaces so it's possible.

Maybe he got it caught on something?
Hm....possible but I don't think so, Ithink it's more likley that he slipped or fell.

That might be it..I know that if Lizzie slips it will hurt her for a few mins too...he may have just done it a little to hard! :(

Probably because there wasn't any punctures, were there? My dog did a four paw split on wood today. Maybe that happened? She was pretty sore.

well, he's been limping for about a week.....I thought it was just the arthritis making his knee stiff, but now I'm thinking something else.

Thanks grammy :) I will! I'm gonna call the vet's tomorrow and see if they are open so I can make an appointment!

Does he keep his leg stiff? Maybe he locked a joint? It's possible he could have broken a tendon or something.
*edit* sorry I thought you wrote "does he keep his leg lifted?" lol But yes, he does keep it stiff!

I'll have to do some reasearch on those two problems and see if it's possible! Thanks for suggestions!! :)

My baby pony all of a sudden got really tender in her hind leg and stiff. Turns out, her stifle joint was locked. She would've been okay, but the vet gave her too much medicine and it killed her. *sniffs* I still cry about her sometimes. *wails*

I came across some info. about a luxating patella .... I think that may be a possibility! :(

I have Osgood-Schlatter. It's where the tendon pulls away from the bone and it is really tender and PAINFUL! You should check to see if dogs can get it. If they can, and Lucas has it, the tendon could pull away completely resulting in surgery. My tendon could come off soon because I ride horses, though I'm not supposed cuz I have it. I wear a brace which is supposed to help, but I think it is getting worse. If I stopped riding, I'd die, so I'll take my chances.

Uhhh just to hijack a little - you gave him an aspirin? Was it a doggy aspirin? Or did you give him human aspirin? I just panic about this a little because giving human drugs to animals can have very bad, often fatal, side effects.

A basic guide for aspirin states, ` It can be toxic if given in high doses of about 30 mg per pound of the dog. This means that even baby aspirin could be poisonous for dogs weighing two pounds or less. An adult aspirin which is 320 mg. would be toxic for a 10-pound dog. To be sure that you are using the aspirin for the right reason and at the right dose, you should consult your veterinarian first.'

Sorry to jump in with that, I certainly don't mean to undermine your knowledge and I hope you aren't offended - but it just rings alarm bells...

Aww, poor Lucas.. :( I'll be hoping for the very best. He could have slipped, it could be a luxating patella, he could have strained a muscle, anything. We'll be waiting for an update! I hope it's nothing serious. Give him a hug for me. :)
