You can find the US Breed here http://www.cassa.us
and my http://www.cassa.us

and my site please read the 10 reasons NOT to own one.
They are great but shed bark are big have limited gene pool here and need fencing due to natural guarding instintcs.

http://centralasianshepherd.homestead.com

All i ask is that you dont believe all that is on the net.
Rare breeds are plaqued with trolls who write inaccurate breed profiles based on profit. My gallery is the largest in the world for a owner or breeder.

CAS are not one type of dog they are many types within one standard.
Most are used for guarding, some for show, very few for therapy work very few certified for it and a gaining thrend in Russia only is to not use the dogs for guarding but for game blood sports these lines are becoming a separate breed.

I wont use any lines not bred to guard because i need the dog to work in packs.....

Here is a gallery of the types that work in packs thus dog dominant not aggressive.http://www.casdog.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/674

Crops

This male i imported from france at 3 months when they were banning cropping so I had him done here and they screwed up and gave me a pit bull crop leaving too much of the ear on top of that his hair grew.
And i know some reading may say why bother? I will tell you if you dont have a perfect crop your competition goes after you for years for " high set ears" even thou the idiots dont know high set is the point in which the ear starts not where the incorrect left ear flap ends :(

Thanks Guys Ivan is a pistol :) the tails and ears are done at 3 days this pic is taken not long after its done.
It is a working lgd thing not really a crop for cosmetic reasons..
Tail is done at 3rd digit- I use Dr Monte at ridge animal hospital to due this years litter his came out okay but when his partner did it before kinda lop sided. When I get a dog penn hip next year i got to trim a even patch back.
Before that we had a Vet tech from Ohio come out to us back 6yrs ago and then we drove to Ohio for i litter in a SNOW storm.

NO anesthia is used and no stiches just crazy glue which I think you can see in the pic .

It seems to me that these dogs are all crosses with Tibetan Mastiffs, Great Pyreneese, Caucasian Shepherds and who knows what else.
Sure, they may be good dogs in and of themselves but when do we get to see some REAL Central Asian Shepherds?

Thanks for sharing. :)

Dear black wolf we all know you have a personal agenda here since your dog comes from a backyard breeder who has never shown your dogs parents.

Do you think a pet owner of one Caucasian makes you a expert the President of the Russian Kennel Club is not? LOL . Attacking me wont make your dog better bred.

All my dogs are rated Excellent by RUSSIAN CENTRAL ASIAN Experts
in writing Zhitkova, Polinova, President of the Russian Kennel CLub Revaz, Galina, Brankovic plus over 30 more FCI experts the LGDS you named.

Here is a link to my critiques I show you mine how about you show anything on your pet backyard bred dog? ONE TT ONE Health clearnance on show title? on your dog or your dogs parents.
http://www.casdog.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/645

All my dogs are UKC CHampions
All my dogs are temperament tested
All My dogs are OFA OR PH or OVC ANd or GDC for health

Breed Type of aboriginal Central Asian dogs

It came to me after a hint by a great member here that best way to deal with this is to EDUCATE all _even Trolls.

The Central Asian Shepherd dog is not a purebred dog created by one man, one kennel or even one country. Thus we have a wide open gene pool with 3 different in standard head types, over 20 different coat color combinations and 2 different coat lenghts. Thus a huge variance can be seen in the shepherd dogs. However in 2000 Russian ( adopted country of origin vs native) changed a 70 year old standing standard written by working experts back in the 20's in attempts to limit the amount of types and to change the function of the dogs from livestock guardians to fighting dogs.
Thankfully FCI who governs the Russian Kennel Club has REJECTED this standard for soon to be 7 years.

Due to the result of inbreeding and linebreeding to reproduce huge dogs that win fights that have FCI out of standard gripping bites _they have more cookie cutter type dogs. They are called OVCHARKA or AZIAT.

So todays breeder has a choice of breeding the old shepherds dogs or the new OVCHARKA from Russia.

Ive been with the breed BEFORE they changed the standard and I have chosen to breed dogs that are NOT exact duplicates of each other, that have correct in standard scizzor bites and that can function as a working pack of livestock dogs that protect vs fight each other.
I dont buy very populer show lines or use show lines that also are fought.. I buy working dogs , let them work and the occasional show in which we BEAT the famous show/fighting lines. This greats a upset in the community thus a riff is formed. Because lGD's go for around $1000 for working and more for breeding where the bigger fighting show lines go for $3,000 to $20,000 .

The good side I am not reproducing the same diseases that are coming from these lines and my dogs are living working longer some of the new Ovcharka die before age 6 . My dogs temperaments all are able to live with other dogs including Male to male. However my dogs DONT match in size of colors the new Ovcharka dogs. Plus we retained the natural roughness of appearance coat and dewlap where the new dogs are becoming more refined.
Our colors vary the most since I dont have one matching pair of same colored dogs. And I dont breed white dogs or white ,with black spots/speckling which according to history come from mixed origin and are more prone to pigment issues which can lead to deafness.

And so far the people who KNOW the breed from Russia, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan are very happy with what I am trying to preserve vs CHANGE.

But I will be always the outsider if i dont comply with the "popular" show people and as long as i keep on saying the breed is NOT Russian but Central Asian hense the name.

Here is something created by real experts vs trolls with no name.

Colors of the Central Asian by Z Brankovic

This is my attempt at education . Kinda like offense vs defense.
Please remember i published this years ago before other sites were created.
So often pits and pierces are used to formulate profiles with no reference material. Author of this is RKF FCI CO CAS BIS National Judges all breed Mr Zoran Brankovic.

Please note this breed was known as the Middle Asian sheepdog from the early 20's thru the later 80's then it was changed to Central Asian. Some profiles has this most basic fact incorrect. Prior to Russian conquest of Central Asian the breed was known as the Asiatic Mastiff and the Turkmen Wolfhound as per published works dating back hundreds of years.

So in other words dont believe net hype.

Origins of the Middle Asia Sheepdog.
** 1997 Central Asian Sheepdog~ Central Asian Shepherd Dog~ Ovcharka , JD BY Zoran Brankovich & A Prokofieva. (C) Authors 2002

The Middle Asia as a region for a very long time was a civilization of nomads, who could not imagine their life without dogs. Dogs, who guard & defend the flock from wild animals & robbers.
Now lets try to imagine how many nomadic tribes went through the Great Steppe for all its history!

And every new wave of migration brought along with their dogs. So local dogs mixed with newcomers making new combinations, which had to prove themselves as suitable ones for this image & living conditions. At the same time men wanted dog to be a excellent guard for his flocks and property.

So during many centuries (this breed was known that 4,000 years ago) the extraordinary Breed- The Middle Asia Sheepdog . Was formed on the huge area, which reaches to 3000 km from the west to the east and for 2000km from the North to the south and includes the territories of the following contemporary countries:

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia.

Climate and landscape of that area are very diverse. Difference is temperature between the warmest and the coldest months during the year is more than 30 degrees.

Even Difference between day & night time temperature is about 25 degrees . Several centuries ago those dogs fighter against Tigers & Leopards. And even today there are a lot of wild animals in Middle Asia. Its believed, that today the Middle Asia dogs often come across with Hyenas & go out of the fight as winners. In mountains Bears & Snow leopards mean a serious danger for the sheep. Often it costs a life to a dog to conquer those enemies. But the most terrible danger still is a Wolf.

The Middle Asia Sheepdog as many others Mastiff-type dogs come from the old Tibetan dog and has a lot in common with the Tibetan Mastiff, Mongol sheepdogs, Shepherd dogs of Afghanistan & Iran, Sheedog-Karabash, Caucasian sheepdog.

It is mistake to separate Middle Asians on mountain & steppe types as origins of this breed based on the history of nomads & does not depend on landscape geography.

There were some tries to classify the breed , which were based in differences in head construction. Also various types could be met at different territories.

Types & or COLOR combos per Country:

Tajikistan.

One of the most spreading type which is characterized by the solid sand color ranges from not bright red to dirty gray with blacked muzzle. All the coat is of the same length. As usual those dogs are very massive, but not huge in height.. Light heads are very seldom.

Turkmenistan.

You can meet white, white with red or fawn spots dogs. Many dogs have oval red or fawn spot on the furrow between the eyes. They all are really well boned. Feather hair is well developed. In winter some dogs get quite a long coat. Typical faults in this area slightly rounded skull, a bit abrupt stop how and to short format.

Uzbekistan.

Light red & fawn dogs with white marks have a lot in common with Turkmenistan.

They are very well balanced, but have a bit lighter bone. Type, which is spread in the south & south west Of Uzbekistan, west of Tajikistan and the south east of Turkmenistan has black/white & white/ black colors.

Those dogs are remarkable for right heads, broad skull & often have arched top of muzzle.

Best animals combine power & free movement. Their faults are: lighter eyes in black solid color & a little bit rounded skull.

Their are some black-piabald dogs in Tajikistan, they are of medium height, well-boned & have very wide & deep chest.

Head is light for the body. In Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan their are some black piebald dogs black speckled dogs, . As a rule they are large with massive and broad skull. Stops are different. Muzzle is often light & not filled under the eyes. .Many of them are not well balanced &d seems to be high legged.

The next type- "Foureyes" dogs. They are black with red or fawn tan, often with white spots.

We can meet them in the south and east of Tajikistan, east of Uzbekistan and south East of Kazakhstan. As usual they are well boned have deep chests, massive heads with slightly abrupt stop & defined supraorbital ridges.

Sarkangic: is a very rare type now, could be met in Uzbekistan & Kirgizia remarkable for the bright red color, or red & with white marks. The length of the coat is the same through the body. Coat is quite long & not too course. Tails are often non docked & have very dense coat. Tips of the tails should be white. Body is very massive , format is stretched due to long, deep chest, Spreading fault light head
