The rough coat Brussels Griffons don't shed. Of course poodles, schnauzers, havanese, yorkies. There are several low/non shedding small breeds. What kind of dogs do you like? Best to look at your lifestyle and then narrow down your options from there..:)

poodles do not shed!

remember though, if you want a dog that does not shed you have to be willing to spend money on grooming unless you learn how to do it yourself!

I want a calm relaxed dog. Our neighbor got a toy poodle from a breeder and she is the calmest thing in the world. she sleeps all day which i thought weird. She also hates wet grass.

Breeds that are low/non shedders include poodles, airdales, Affenpinscher, Italian Greyhounds, etc. Like Dr2Little said, how can we help you find a breed and what other preferences do you have for a dog?

Edit- size, space needs, affection level, etc.?

that might be caused by living in a kennel at the breeders since she was "born". I don't know.

It can also be due to training and proper excercise. My boys sleep all day too but then all their excercise requirements are met so when they are home they WANT to sleep lol They have also been trained to be calm and quiet inside (plus it helps that it is in a HUskies nature too).

Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso and Bichon Frise and I believe the Lowchen dont shed. As well as the affenpinscher, american hairless terrier, cesky terrier, chinese crested, coton de tuleur, glen of imaal, havanese, italian greyhound, maltese, manchester terrier, norfolk and norwich terrier, peruvian inca orchid, petit basset griffon vendeen, scottish terrier, sealyham terrier, westies, xolos, and yorkies. There are many others but these are the small breeds.

Yorkies don't shed. Of course, if you brush them, some hair will come out, but that happens when you brush me too. :D

I had a Bedlington Terrier for 15 years. They don't shed, although they are a little bigger than the toy breeds.

I will repeat someone above: Most non-shedding breeds require a lot of grooming. All those hairs that aren't falling out are getting caught up in the coat and produce mats. Medley went to the professional groomers for clipping every 6 - 8 weeks, and needed brushing every other day or so. Although I loved not having hair everywhere, I will never own another dog that needs professional grooming/clipping.

I have 2 toy poodles and neither one sleeps all day, lol.

I guess if they were never let out of their crate they would no other choice... but like ALL dogs they need exercise and want to play ALOT like normal puppies.

This poodle is a year old and sleeps all day. It's weird to me. i thought most small dogs were active. not her.

anyway, my mother said she wants to eventualy get a maltese. she saw one a breeder had that lived near us.

What about a Spoodle (cockapoo)? I know that is probably what we are getting due to the fact of my moms allergies!:)

Non-Shed Dog

what are all the purbred, small dogs that do not shed?
The maltese is a no shed breed but does require regular brushing they are often kept in a puppy cut to make the grooming easier. I am owned by 2 of them. They don't require a lot of room for excercise. Mine love to fetch their ball and after a few runs their done for the evening. I am retired and home most of the time and both of mine sleep alot in the daytime my Macy is 3 1/2 yrs old and my Jazzy is 5 months old. They like to play outside but are definately house dogs.

i think the manchester terrier sheds. only the toy manchester is non shedding. they also dont require a lot of grooming (there is really not a whole lot of hair left to groom lol), same with italian greyhound and american hairless.

baily is a maltese and i havent found a single hair of him, ever. his fur matts easily though and the grooming can be a PITA at times.....but i really enjoy not finding hair everywhere (except for my own...)
