He is a snow spotted bengal by the way.

VERY VERY vocal :D Likes to FIGHT with other cats in "his" territory ;) He was an indoor cat, but it just did NOT work.

Make sure you do LOTS of research first...they're not your average cat, and there are tons of Bengal BYBs since they are so popular. Make sure the breeder has the cats living in their house as family members. Also, make sure they extensively socialize their kittens so they don't grow up to be shy like so many cats do due to lack of socialization.

If I ever wanted to get a purebred cat from a breeder (which will be never, but that's just me lol) that was really active and curious like a Bengal, I'd get an Abyssinian or Samoli (a long coated version of the Aby, very beautiful and wild-looking). One major drawback about Bengals to me was always that they mark.
Thats a given. Just b/c its a cat doesnt mean I'd research any less or purchase from a byb'er . You still have to apply all the rules to buying a puppy to a kitty. And research is critical before purchasing any pet, not just cats and dogs.

Dizzy I am in love w/ your cat!!!! Soooo pretty. :D

While Bengal cats are beautiful they are still very close to there native cousins. They do act very wild and don't make the best house cat. I don't know if anyone watches animal planet animal cops, but they rescued several at a breeders house in Texas and they put the cats in a wildlife sanctuary once they were Spayed/Neutered. Not because they were feral but because of there nature and high activity level.

I have one as well :D.
She was a rescue! Check your shelters first, because they aren't too uncommon!
Ours is very affectionate, and is on the small side. She, however, is also VERY vocal.

I read that they cost quite a bit, I don't know though. My cat was part Bengal part calico o_0 suposedly. ;) I wish I had a picture. She was GORGEOUS! She was stolen from our yard unfortunately. :( She was a sweetie, her name was Pumpkin because I got her for my birthday in October (Pumpkin-Fall). :D
hey just FYI, a cat cannot be part bengal part calico, calico is not a breed, it is either calico or it isn't, that refers to black, red and white, with white being the dominant color. If there was tabby striping mixed in that would be a Torbie but again that refers to coloring not breed. Bengal is a breed, Bengals do not have calico markings. no offense meant or anything, but I see a lot of people who think calico is a breed, or tabby too for that matter.

anyways, we had a Bengal at the shelter I worked at and she was amazing, very very LOUD and vocal. Actually that is why she was brought in because the neighbors complained about her meowing so much, But she walked on a leash and everything.

Are you thinking of Ocicats? I have seen them on Animal Planet. But Bengals are becoming common housecats. If they are bred right there should not be any wild cat in them at all. They are bred many generations down from the wildcat. Meaning the ones common now are from Bengal ancestors not wildcat ancestors if you know what I mean. I think Bengals make wonderful housepets. They are very intelligent, can be walked and often act more like dogs. They are beautiful smart cats.

Hmmm - everyone is talking about the Bengals, without actually having lived with one :D

They do make good housecats. They shouldn't be vicious wild cats - that is the point of crossing them with (insert domestic cat here).

Shan is as good a cat as any. He is just quirky. He is very vocal - you KNOW when it is feeding time. He isn't scared of anything - you can't "shoo" him - ie. if he jumps up and you are preparing food, you have to physically remove him, just saying, "shoo" etc doesn't work :D

He is an active cat, I wouldn't want to keep one in a small area...!!! They are not suitable for flats/small houses.

He WAS an indoor cat, and hated it. Would sit and stare outside, and try and get out at every opportunity. When I brought my own cat back here (when I moved), they dynamics in the "cat" house changed considerably, and keeping three cats indoors, 2 of whom would gang up on my one (usually all her fault), we began letting shan out also to relieve the tension - which it has done. They are kept in over night, in seperate rooms, Shan lives quite happily with our Siamese, and actually doesn't mind MY cat (she HATES them). So he's a pretty sociable boy!!! Unless he is outdoors - then if another cats comes by, all hell breaks loose.

Basically, he is a cat like any other, just a bit more ballsy, bit more intelligent.

As long as you go to someone reputable who socialises the kittens well - you're fine :D

Not sure what someone meant by Bengals "marking" all the time - do you mean urine?! He has NEVER EVER done this.... In fact, we had more of a problem with our siamese..

Oh your cat is beautiful! Is it a snow Bengal or a Bengal mix? Only snow bengals can have blue eyes I believe. Classic Bengals only have gold or green eyes. I have a similar looking cat. She looks similar but without much spotting. She is not a bengal I only posted the pic to compare to yours, mostly the eyes, I love those bright almost turquiose blue eyes. Spotting doesn't automatically make the cat a bengal though. Did yours come from a breeder?

They are pretty, I just don't see why people want to have wild or exotic looking cats as a house pet. Same thing with wolf hybrids. I just don't get it. There are sooooo many poor kitties in the shelter...I'd adopt one before buying from a breeder.

Same with dogs/pedigree dogs - I 100% agree. Shan is not my cat, he is my parents, along with the siamese.

My cat is a stray moggie.

It's no different to someone wanting a pure breed dog.
