I have an 8 month old Chihuahua that is in heat. We also have a 3 year old male Chihuahua and we caught them stuck together. Is my girl to young to have pups if she did get pregnant?

I think the best thing to do would be to take your girl to the vet and get her all checked out.. even if she is pregnant you can have her spayed now and this will also abort the pregnancy.. pregnancies for chis can be VERY dangerous.. they can even die trying to give birth.. Please get her spayed ASAP :)

No.

I don't want to get her spayed. That's why we have a male Chihuahua and a female Chihuahua. We want them to have puppies.

This is your first post. Why are you yelling and swearing at us?

Yes your dog is probably pregnant. Yes you should take her to the vet and get an emergency spay. Yes it is very dangerous to breed small breeds. And yes you should get the male neutered too. Be responsible.

You bred your dog while she is still a puppy. It is dangerous to breed chihuahua's and there is a good chance you will lose her :(

If it's not to far along I think you can get a shot to abort the pregnancy. I think I remember my friend having to do that to her dog when she was in heat and one of her son's and her were left together.

How many times have we had this conversation? And how many of those conversations were about Chihuahuas?

That was, though, without a doubt, the rudest way anyone has ever asked that question.

You've gotten the best possible advice. I suggest you read through the threads in this section of the forum and learn about responsible breeding vs. backyard breeding.

Unless you have experience as a breeder then it is very unwise to allow your dog to continue this pregnancy. Combining a small breed, a very young dog, and pregnancy is likely to end in serious complications for your dog, possibly even death. Even an experienced breeder would recognize the problem here (and wouldn't have allowed this to happen in the first place).

Uh, I think your "D*a*m*n Question" has been answered. Take her to your vet and get his advice, which will most likely be about the same as you got here. You are endangering your dog and should've been more careful. Before you decide to breed again, take Renee's advice and get educated. Takes a lot more than having a male and female to think about breeding, especially Chihuahua's.

Good luck, hope your dog will be ok.

Wow, so new and oh so rude! That title showed lack of maturity, something that is needed in huge amounts when thinking about breeding.

If you purchased 2 Chi's for breeding and were aware that 8 months was too young to breed, why the heck leave them together?

If you want to breed do some more research, so you know when ideal breeding age is, how long is a gestation period, the possible consequences of breeding etc.

Its not just put them together then 2 months later you have puppies! Its much more than that, and alot of times chi's become agressive and reject their puppies.

Your young mom is very likely to do just that. Good luck with them and all I can say is I hope she doesnt die on you just because you were irresponsible enough to want them to breed

I agree with all !!! This is WAY too young for a litter !!! If you HAVE to have a litter, talk to your vet as to when she can have her pups removed surgically and pts before they take a breath . Sad that you have put your female and a litter through such peril because of irresponsibility . Yes, we're harsh..... but your thread openner was rude !

So what are you whining about then? It's amazing the number of newbies lately that make their first post sound like it was submitted by someone that just got released from a psycho ward...:yikes: Can you imagine them trying to take care of puppies...... wow , what a horrible thought.......
