So it has been about three weeks since I started Mordy's advise to help clear up Gunnar's ear infection. So far so good. This is the longest he has gone w/out an infection since he was little. His ears look great! None of the icky stuff, no shaking or scratching! I am so happy for him, it must be a great relief for him too!
Here's what we have been doing. We used the "Blue power wash" ear cleaner which Mordy gave me the ingredient list for, it contains alchol, boric acid and gentian violet. We warm it up in cup like a baby bottle and then for the first week used it twice a day, we are now down to once a week with it. The big difference I noticed with this ear cleaner is that he didn't try to run and hide when he saw the bottle and he didn't cry when it was being applied like he would with the vet recommended solutions.
We also switched him to a one source protien/carbohydrate food, right now we are using Natural Balance Sweet potatoes and fish along with the canned. To mix it up a bit he does get raw fish 1-2 times a week as well and for his puppy treats he gets tuna fish rinsed well.
I am just tickled pink about this! Hopefully we will stay on the right track. I am thinking he may be allergic to chicken although I am not yet ready to start to add anything back into his diet as Mordy suggested eight weeks of the single protien/carb.
Thanks so much Mordy! We couldn't be more pleased!
