Potty Problem - very puzzling

I would also ditch the bleach. We are not allowed to even have bleach in the building at the daycare I work at, on the orders of our advising board of vets. I know a lot of other places use it, but there are so many other cleaners out there that do just as well without the potential harmful effects of bleach.

But hooray for progress!

What other low cost cleaners are available? What would you recommend? Thanks!!!!

There's stuff like Nature's Miracle, home remedies like baking soda/vinegar/club soda combos (do a search or even make a new thread), companies like Hillyard's, (although I'm not sure if they sell to the general public)

The daycare probably cleans the potty area because of the risk of disease. At home, you only have one dog using the area... disinfectants don't seem like they'd be necessary.

Ick. Bleach. Hate the stuff! I use it on my toilet though That's it.

Try vinegar maybe. Or baking soda, as suggested. Personally I wouldn't want any toxic chemicals like bleach in my backyard and leaching into the soil. I know that my dogs won't go near bleach if I've cleaned with it.

If you sprinkle a little dolamite lime over the area and rinse it down through the rocks, that will neutralize the smell to humans pretty darn well. I used it occassionally, when needed in my horses' stalls and put the sawdust over the top. Just sprinkle sparingly so it will rinse down through the rocks. You don't want the pup walking in wet lime as it's somewhat caustic. Don't worry about germs from urine. It's sterile until it's been in the air, then some bacteria come to it, but nothing harmful, just enough to work on the urine which causes the ammonia.

Glad she's getting back into the swing of things.
