Where is your friend located? Is she looking to course, to show, to play companion sports, to have a great buddy to take on walks in the park and to lounge with on the couch? Is she picky about color? We have plenty of good breeders here with borzoi in a variety of styles who participate in a variety of activities. Suggesting breeders would be easier if we had more detailed information.

Also, the Borzoi Club of America keeps a referral list. She could also contact them.

She's located in indiana. She's looking for a mostly companion for walking and general exercise. She also has 2 other dogs so it'll likely be active. She might show in conformation although that isn't decided yet. I don't think she is picky about color.

Ok ill tell her that :)

What timeframe is she looking for a dog in? There may be breeders in her area with older puppies to place. Most don't advertise those puppies, because the right homes just tend to come along through word of mouth. All of the folks I know that have puppies on the ground right now have their litters spoken for already.

I can recommend a ton of different breeders, but it might be best if she goes with someone semi local who can mentor her.

I know of a couple of planned litters in the Midwest, but nothing has been announced to the general borzoi community yet. If the bitches take, I could point you to those litters when their breeders are ready to tell people.

On another note, many borzoi breeders are bad at marketing, especially to the general public. Some breeders don't have websites, and frequently, those that do have them don't maintain them well. Furthermore, just because you don't see health testing listed on a website doesn't mean the dog is lacking in health testing. If you don't see health testing mentioned, look the dog up on the OFA site, and if some of it is missing in the OFA database, contact the breeder because plenty of borzoi breeders do the testing but don't mail in the paperwork. (No, I haven't a clue why.)

I totally spaced out on mailing in Kaia's CERF and forgot to pay the vet the OFA fee for her cardiac so neither of those went in for a year. By then her CERF had expired but the cardiac still counted so I paid the vet and they got it in.
D'oh.

Some DNA tests can clear them by parentage too, like the DM test. Kaia's dad tested clear. Her dam tested clear as well but her dam's breeder never sent it in, and he's a veterinarian. :p

I have no idea why borzoi breeders do that either.

ZoiBoyz recently had a litter, and a big litter, too. They might still have puppies available, but they're in Colorado. Is that too far for your friend?

ZoiBoyz is known for its coursing dogs, but in recent years, they've gotten into showing and are doing well there, too.

We are located in Nova Scotia, Canada and have a litter due at the end of February, 2018, if your friend has not found a pup yet.
