Whippet, most likely. From a breeder. Anytime from two months from now, into next fall - just depends on what puppies get put on the ground. Color wise I'm not a fan of solid colors or brindle in this breed, as usual I go for light and flashy. I have a slight preference for male dogs personality-wise, but to offset potential same sex aggression might go for a female (though the more time goes on the less I worry about this, Astro still regularly and happily plays with neutered male dogs all the time).

Goals are fairly modest but broad: mid-level rally and obedience (NEVER thought I would feel that way but here I am!), nosework, and exploring a few new ones, especially lure coursing, dock diving, and if I can stomach the barking, flyball. Maybe agility too but I try not to get my hopes up there too much after Astro...

How excited am I? Just spent the last hour looking up whippet videos, you tell me :D

Another LHW, from a breeder. Male almost definitly. I'm hopingnfor a saddled one, but color is low priority.

I want some agility, dock diving or flyball if I can find a place that offers them, and therapy work. There is a possibility that it might do service work, but we are hoping that that is not needed.

The breeding is chosen and we are just waiting for the bitch to go into heat.

I am excited enough to have a heart attack.

Though, if Quids adoption fails, I will be having a Quiddich Mortimer instead of a whippet

Breed: Standard Rat Terrier--probably 15" tall

Gender: Male

Color: Black Tri Piebald. Ideally, the dog would be piebald vs. saddleback but have a lot of black. In reality, our new puppy is mostly white with a face that will calico---two things we didn't want! :p But I couldn't pass this guy up...he's got the P!

Where from: Breeder

When: Either TOMORROW or Wednesday, depending on several factors o.0

Goals: Agility and a Go everywhere, do anything type of dog.

How excited: It's more surreal than anything. I don't think I'll be excited until he's in my arms! Then, I'm worried about him not meshing well with the boys (Crossbone hates puppies and I don't think Jack's ever been around a puppy). Even though this has been a long time coming, it still seems crazy fast.

**Note: As of currently, I am set on no particular breed, but their are some breeds I'm highly considering.**

Breed: Border Collie!Or, Sheltie!
Gender: Female (most likely.)
Sire/Dam: I'd love a BC from Creekside. As for the Sire/Dam, I don't have a clue, due to it being so far out.
When: 2017,at the very, very, very earliest. However, it is very unlikely I'll obtain a dog at that time. Most likely it'll be somewhere around 2019-2020(Maybe, later.) It's not soon enough. I have considered Fostering though. Which would be around 2017-2018.
Goals: I'd want be competitive Agility, and Disc dogs/Frisbee. Dock dogs sounds so fun

Tentatively an Alaskan, but really God only knows. Depends on so many factors, some under my control and some not. I'm not going to be in a position to think seriously about it until Pip is gone, so I'm not thinking very seriously about it at this point.

For me:
Breed: ACD (I know, I know. Everyone is shocked.)
Gender: Female. Always.
Color: Don't care. I prefer clean reds, but I much prefer decent drive and temperament.
Where from: A working breeder. I have a few in mind, but I'm pretty sure I'll be going through my original/pre-Tulsa breeder.
Sire/Dam: No matches in particular I'm eyeing. IDEALLY, breeder's red female with one of her co-owned males.
When: Not until after both Rider and Harlow are gone and Tulsa is probably around 6 or so. Maybe even after that.
Goals: Working cattle. I WILL have a farm before nextdog comes along, so this will be a for sure. Also, OB/Rally and probably disc. I think we will be too remote to seriously pursue much. I really just like dogs to hike with and such anyways.
How excited: Not very right now! I'm having fun researching for the future, but it's a long ways out and I wouldn't want another until I was set up for it, no matter how much I say so in joking. :p

For DH:
Breed: Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
Gender: I think he's wanting a male. Weirdo.
Color: No preference, though iirc they are only liver.
Where from: More research is necessary, but most likely a semi-local well known breeder. I just have to verify health tests and we need to meet/watch the dogs work.
Sire/Dam: Not sure yet.
When: Probably a year and a half or so. Maybe sooner if we find the right rescue.
Goals: Working waterfowl dog.
How excited: I'm getting pretty stoked for him! He's been waiting a long time. :)

My nextdog will likely be a BC, Aussie, or ACD/mix.

Male almost certainly.

Color will likely be black/white/red by nature. I don't have a large preference.

I know a few herding group rescues that have a lot of great sport potential dogs come through, and some friends have adopted great (even world champion!) sport dogs from them, so I am very likely to adopt nextdog.

Probably not until at least late 2015, more likely mid-late 2016 after my trainee leaves.

Goals would be disc primarily, then other funstuff like obedience games, dock diving, agility, nosework, etc.

Not super excited since I don't really have nextdog want right now. :p I'm always perusing petfinder though!

Breed: Sighthound
Gender: No care.
Colour: Lack of care.
Where from: breeder for sure. I'm not going through rescue.
When: 2016 at the earliest.
Goals: dog park dog. Fun grooming requirements.
How excited: Not. Moo has to pass away first. He's in pretty shitty health right now.

Eventually I want a Morado Dobe :)p) but I've decided that a Dobe will strain my relationship too much and a Sighthound will make me happy and not stress the BF. I've basically decided on a breed, but nothing's official.

Breed: Silken Windhound
Gender: Either. I would prefer a male if Rowan will get along with an intact male (we're going to introduce him to some of the breeder's dogs to test it out.) They're so laid back though that I think he'll be fine.
Color: Doesn't matter, although if I could get either a solid brindle or piebald brindle I would be SO happy.
Where from: Not comfortable posting names publicly, but I found an amazing local breeder. :)
Sire/Dam: There will be a couple of litters next year so it will likely be from one of those pairs. She thinks that either one would produce a suitable puppy for me. She has a bitch that I really, really like, but isn't planning to breed her anytime soon.
When: Late spring or summer 2015.
Goals: The dog will be my service dog prospect. We will also show conformation and depending on how the dog turns out, he might be bred to contribute to my breeder's breeding program. We will definitely play lure coursing, probably straight racing, and then whatever else the dog enjoys! I like to dabble and find things we both have fun with.
How excited: I'm excited, but it still seems surreal. I've wanted a puppy from a breeder for so long that I can't wrap my mind around the fact it'll be happening soon. I don't think I'll start REALLY feeling it until there's a litter on the ground and a puppy with my name on it!

Breed: Sheltie
Gender: Male
Certain breeder and/or sire or dam: Yes. Same breeder. Sire Auggie's brother. Dam Payton's mother. Alternatively Sire is Payton, dam is dunno yet.
Timeline: Next breeding will be attempted this spring when she goes back in season. If that doesn't take, I'm not sure what the next option will be. We might try breeding Payton instead. Not to his own mother obviously, but potentially another breeder's bitch.
What do you hope to accomplish with him: MACH agility dog, sheepherding, lovely little playmate for Payton, and an overall good boy.
How excited: I don't know how to quantify it exactly. I want another puppy and I want it now. But I also have a lot of work to do with Payton still so it's not a big deal. I'll be a bit bummed if the breeding doesn't take but I'll also be happy with a Payton puppy should we go that route. OTOH the puppy has a name and a registered name, a big bucket of toys, puppy shampoo, a puppy bed, a food bowl, I have fleece to make him a coat and fabric to make him a crate cover - which all makes me pretty insane. A 7 or 8 maybe.

Well in terms of gender - both of my bitches are little more on the butch side of things so I hope the next one is a little more femme :D

For the most part, I'll be keeping an eye on some of my favorite private breeders for some sort of combination of SBT / BC / Whippet.

But we're talking like 5 years down the line because we're full on the dogs and I have some that are getting older.

If it ends up being another ACD (which is the most probable), I definitely want a red one, but gender doesn't really matter to me. It either will come from a local farm whose dogs I really like, or a nice breeder in my area who shows in conformation and herding.
Uhm, just out of curiosity... do they health test?

Breed: Australian Koolie

Gender: Female

Color: Would love a solid, but I would object to a merle.

Where from: Unless something changes in a couple of years, pretty much my only option is to import. So a breeder from Australia! I LOVE Toolala dogs, but am open to other breeders as well, if they have what I'm looking for.

When: 2017

Goals: Hopefully will be my sport dog. Rally, obedience, agility, mayyyybe disc. General hiking, go anywhere type dog.

How excited: So flippin' excited.

Are you going to try sports with Finn? Just curious.
Yep, we're definitely going to be doing rally, and I'd love to try obedience and agility with him as well, possibly nosework. He doesn't care anything about discs (plus his long back makes me hesitant) or we would try disc as well.

Uhm, just out of curiosity... do they health test?
Yeah, they do health test as well as dabble in conformation, but compared to the other breeder I'm looking at, they breed more of a farm dog. Anything coming off a 'true' ranch is probably not going to be health tested. They do live on large acreage though, and raise cattle and horses. They are a ranch first, and then an ACD breeder. They breed the dogs mainly to help out with the livestock.

On that note, though, there IS a farm not too far away that churns out a ridiculous amount of litters every year. They are basically a glorified puppy mill, but since they use their dogs to work livestock, people just look past the number of litters as well as the lack of health testing. They also breed 'Miniature ACD's'.

Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi (or Corgi mix), ACD, or Mal, can't decide and may depend on timing.
Gender: Male for sure since my two youngest are females
Color: doesn't matter to me one bit
Where from: Mal would almost certainly be from a responsible working breeder, ACD would likely be from rescue, though I would consider a responsible working line breeder, Corgi or Corgi mix would likely be from rescue, but I'd consider a responsible performance breeder.
Sire/Dam: N/A at this point
When: We have to lose one of our current dogs, so hopefully not for a long while. Z is 7.5 but a small breed, Kes is 6, so hopefully at least 6+ years from now. Nextdog might end up being futurekid's dog, too, so age of futurekid will also play a role.
Goals: Active companion regardless of breed. If Corgi/mix, I'd also look toward titling in flyball and agility mainly, maaaybe obedience. ACD would be similar, maybe with some dabbling in herding, too. Mal I'd be looking at IPO mainly, hopefully competing in Regional level competition, with other sports as possible.
How excited: Conflicted. It's fun to think about nextdog but sucks to contemplate the passing of any of my current dogs.

Breed: Flat-Coated Retriever, Border Collie, Koolie, or Golden Retriever most likely. Will depend on my household and who is breeding who when I am ready.

Gender: FCR/GR: Female; BC/K: Male

Breeder/Lines/Rescue: Likely if FCR, related to Mira; if BC, related to Lodin, if Koolie, related to Traveler; if Golden, unknown.

Timeline: Probably somewhere between 2018-2022 unless something unexpected happens in the interim. So 4-5 years at the very earliest.

Goals: Go-anywhere-do-anything, Agility to the highest level we are able to attain as a team, dabbling in other sports as they strike our fancy, work at least basic level at breed-purpose activity be it field or herding.

How excited are you for Next Dog (on a scale of 1 to insane)? Today? Not at all. I think about it in a vague sort of way simply because I am a very planny sort of person but I am really excited about my current crew and all the adventures that are in our future, be they competitive or recreational. In all likelihood the MOTHER of my next dog isn't even born yet...maybe not even the grandmother haha.
