In certain circumstances with certain names.

My name is Emma, and I have a cousin whom I used to be close with, named Bailey.
The amount of flipping people I met with dogs named Emma and Bailey was ridiculous

For my own dogs, I'd rather not use common human first names.

Well, I have one dog with a human name, and one dog with a sport-type name, so I pretty much just **** off the entire dog world in one way or another ;)

Honestly, I have never put a lot of thought into other people's dog names, or really thought any type was weird. I like a lot of people names for dogs, I like a lot of sport names for dogs. My biggest complaint is weird foreign names, but mostly just because I get frustrated when working the gate at trials!

I have given up trying to correct one person in our agility club who constantly refers to me as Meg.
No, Gusto is a cute name. I don't like the sport names that are like...Eviction, Smite, Torture, TornadoOfBloodandDestruction... weird stuff I really couldn't imagine calling my dog in public.

I only named Mia. I wish it wasn't so popular but it is HER 100%. I can't think of any other name.

I think Summer could pull off any feminine, soft pretty name.

Hank came named. In my head 'Nextdog' was Flynn. For about the last two years his name had been Flynn. Totally didn't fit. The only thing that fit was Hank, which is the name he came with.

See, which ones are you considering the 'not people' names and which one are you considering the 'people name' lol?

To me, I've heard both Rider and Harlow for people names.
People name their children Rider?! I was referring to Harlow as the people name. Lol!

Yep, I've heard it before lol.

All of my dogs could be considered to have people names, though I've never met someone named Indy or Indiana, she WAS named after Indiana Jones, (and Indy car racing) I know an Italian boy that works at the grocery store, his name is Enzo. I'm far too polite to tell him my dogs name is Enzo lol, and I've only ever heard of one other dog names Enzo, and it's a Malinois, so I'm cool with that. She was named after both the car (my favorite car) and the book The Art Of Racing In The Rain.

Then there's Ozzy, who was named after Ozzy Osbourne, and Harrison, who was named after Harrison Ford, and gets called Harry (or Hudson a few times on accident lol) :p

I don't like SUPER common names like Maggie, Ella, Bella, Lucy, Lily, ect, I got my fill of ALL of those names in doggie daycare.

I like uncommon names, and if they happen to be people names, well, so what.

I don't mind a lot of the "sporty" names, but I couldn't really picture myself yelling those names out the back door lmao. Flash, Scream, Force, Rip, Ion, Speed, Thrust, ect.

I'm still trying to asses how I feel about this, lol

Huddy, Huddy, Hudson-Free does love pointy brown dogs
Bwahahahahaha, it's usually when I'm calling all the dogs it and I'll go "Indy! Enzo! Ozzy! Hudson! Sh!t!!! I MEAN HARRISON!! COME HERE!!"

And he likes being called Harry Harry Harrison Free lol. That's his cue now to dance up to me and shove his face under my arm :p

I will say it is hard working in the veterinary field and trying to come up with baby names.

"What about so-and-so name?"
"Nope. I know a dog named that, and he's an asshole."
"What about this-name?"
"Nope. I know, like, five dogs with that name."

So if no one used human names for dog names, this wouldn't be an issue. :p

I had a Buzz Lightyear.
I have a Bailey (I never thought of it as a human name before I got her).
Gabby is definitely a human name but I didn't chose it.

Cats are Rascal and Rasza (Raja from that movie with the tiger).

Previous dogs were Snowey and Scruffy.

I don't care what people name their dogs--but I do prefer non-human names.

2 out of 6 six dogs that I have/had human names.

Not really.

I don't mind names that are last names more often than first names. I don't like common names of any sort really, typically human or dog.

I tend to choose human names for my own pets but I have no real strong feelings either way.

My current dogs have pretty common names. Gracie and Abby. Gracie was named after my grandma. Abby was an Abby as soon as I met her. I thought she was going to be a Sophie (in my head), but she definitely was not. I feel they both got the right name for them.

I had Eli and Barkley, my two cockatiels. Barkley was named after Barkley from Sesame Street because of his colouring (except he was more brown and white than orange an white, to be honest I'm not sure what I was thinking).

Yes. So much yes. My favorite names for dogs are ones that are awkwardly human. Close behind are dogs named after food. Behind that are dogs with verbs for names.

Best.

Well, I have an Elsa, a Jonas, and a Jack. I'm fine with people names. :p I think old lady names for dogs, especially Pitties, are hilarious so Elsa is partially pleasing that part of me and named after Elsa the Lioness. At work we have an Eloise that's a super young goofy Shepherd mix and that gets me.

I will have a dog named Keith. That cracks me up every time I think about it.
