Yeah that's the thing I really wish I could meet some in person just to 'get a feel' for them.
I just love their structure, size, etc, (I know both vary a bit though) but personality/temperament seems fairly spot on for what I'd like in a dog, I'm just not quite sure though. I like the BC's I've met because of their gentleness, I guess... they have the oomph and the drive and focus but most that I've met anyway, aren't overly pushy with humans or other dogs, not terribly bouncy or 'ram into things' type which I like (Jax would also appreciate). He tends to get annoyed with overly bouncy, mindless energy type dogs who don't really pay attention to where Jax is underfoot.
Overall I still keep leaning towards a Border Terrier and think that's what I'll end up with, but gah, HERDERS... I keep going between Koolies, MAS', English Shepherds and BCs too. There's just so much variation though that scares me. I hear and see of some ES's that I LOVE and then I see some that I don't really. Same with MAS and BCs. And Koolies I just don't have enough knowledge or experience w/ in general.
But most Border Terriers I see (I belong to quite a few FB groups etc and have talked to breeders) seem pretty consistent and like 'my' kind of dog. I'd want to find one that's pretty 'drivey' and loves toys, as I REALLY want a dog who naturally enjoys fetching and frisbee etc. I've taught Jax to 'be' that dog but it's not so engrained in him as some if that makes sense.
