It's annoying once you get into a workout routine, and you feel good after your workout to having to cut it either in half or out completely. I'll be researching those supplements, and waiting to hear if they worked for my friend before starting anything, and my doctors appointment is before then anyway, so I'll be discussing the muscle pain with him.
It is annoying for sure. =< Deloading is a thing in weightlifting, sometimes you have to deload before you can make progress again. But it's still difficult mentally because it feels like a set back, or giving up, or whatever. Discussing any supplements with your doc is an excellent idea!

As far as the craving mushrooms goes, TBH, if you're craving them, I would take that as a sign that your body wants that, and you should eat the hell out of them LOL. I've learned to listen to my body to a point... not always eating exactly what I'm craving, but for example, I know if I'm craving Fritos, that's a signal that my body is low on sodium and I need something salty ASAP. So if your body says MOAR MUSHROOMS I would totally go for it.

Oh man, it is seriously time to kick my butt into shape. This winter has been kinda bad - I get at least some exercise every day, but I suspect I have put on at least 5lbs (kind of scared to get on the scale and see). Mostly I think the culprit is too much booze! and not enough really heavy exercise. So, starting today is no more beer for a while ( :( ), tons of water, and way more exercise. Just did that M-100 workout and some chins ups/pull ups (pull ups are SO much harder for me than chin ups, do other people find that as well?), and going to head out on a walk with the dogs soon. And running, soon, soon I swear.

I feel like checking in here will keep me more on track, so here goes...

I'm pretty jealous actually!
Be jealous of the flooring... I'll have to get a pic. Think of the greenest, most disgusting 1970's shag. We'll be replacing it with gym flooring a few months down the line.

But yeah. Full weight set up to 35lbs, weight bench, ball, yoga mat and stereo. Loooving it.

Hahahaha, I've been buying mushrooms in the biggest package they come in fresh, as well as the ones that come in a can. I think I eat mushrooms with just about everything you CAN eat mushrooms with. I didn't used to like them very much, but oh my god I can't eat enough of them right now!!

It definitely does feel like a set back though. I can do regular pullups (I did them last night just to see) and not get any muscle pain during the exercise, at least this time, but my left shoulder area, in the back is twitching today, just randomly. I don't feel a burn that says I actually did any work though, which is kind of disappointing, because I like the feeling that says, yeah, you did it, you pushed yourself and it's working.

I think I'm becoming a work out junkie :p

We got a stationary bike last week and I guess I have been overdoing it because my right quad is just very painful today... I had to stop after 10 minutes (I did 50 minutes the last two days). I'm bummed. It's been pouring out too so I couldn't go for a walk instead. I guess I'm on forced rest for the next few days (having my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow anyway, not sure how long before I can exercise again).

Rainy, yucky day. Going to do some yoga... I think I'm going to get a yoga mat, doing it on the hardwood floors isn't very comfortable. Does the brand really matter at all, does anyone know?

Unless you're going to be hauling it all over the place I wouldn't be too concerned. Durability can be a concern if you trek it around to this gym and that gym and also outside and up a mountain... but if you're just unrolling it in the house, using it, then rolling it back up, I wouldn't be too worried about it! You'll just want to make sure it is thick enough. Some of the super cheap ones are pretty pathetic.

I am feeling like trash right now, I think my nutrition is screwed up since the half. Yesterday after the gym, I took a shower, then had to sit down after the shower for a few minutes before I could go back upstairs. Definitely something is not right. Tracking for a few days to see if I can figure out what's up. I know it was a long, hot run, but I can't believe it should still be affecting me on frickin' Wednesday, so something isn't right at all. Maybe sodium really low again... that's not a number I normally track, I guess I should start.

Thanks Beanie, you're the best!

I hope you figure out what it is and resolve it quickly, that stuff is no fun.

5k went really really well yesterday. My goal was just to be able to run the whole thing, to not get all freaked and crazy and forget to breathe and get side-stitches and die.

I felt fantastic. I ran. I breathed. I listened to my music. I got faster every split. My official time was 26:04. I finished 8th out of the 68 people running (small 5k!), the first woman, and got a medal for being first woman in my age group.

Crazy. Just crazy.

My right calf was tight this morning, but that's the only after-effect I noticed. I am so happy with how I did, regardless of time.

I've never run exactly a 5k before. My training runs have all been a little bit more or a little bit less. So it is interesting to have an actual PB now.

And I am very happy with how I ate going into it. I'm struggling to recover from anorexia, and running has been held up and examined as "self-harm" but really it's the closest thing to meditation that I can manage.

You rock, Katie! Congrats :D

Went on a hike with Rick and Em, only about a mile, but pretty steep!

I so need motivation. So so so need it. I didn't go to the gym last week and this week I've had "other things to do", too. Gah. I am GOING tomorrow. GOING.

In the meantime, I feel fat and unhappy with myself. I know it is just perception, because my physical shape hasn't changed and I'm hovering at the same weight as always, but blah. :(

Elegy, that is really inspiring. Amazing for you, well done! I'm aiming for my first 5K this summer.

I went up a weight level yesterday. 5lbs to 8lbs, which is like nothing, but oh man. My arms and chest HURT today. I'm starting to love that muscle soreness. Eager to keep moving up the ladder.

My boyfriend is super supportive and motivating, which is great since he's right next to me pressing 35lb weights. :rofl1:

You look great in photos! Haven't seen anything since your wedding, but you looked absolutely fine.

Second, commit to something. That's what I did!

So here's my news: I just started Crossfit. I spent march searching for a facility I liked, and missed all the intro classes in April. Just finished two of the intro classes, and this is the hardest thing I've ever done. I hurt in places I didn't know I could hurt. Its awesome. Super intense workouts and it works everything.. With direction and attention to form.

I paid a lot more for it than I could with a free gym membership from work, but it gives me the direction I needed, and paying for it gives me the reason to show up and DO it. If not, that's money down the drain.

I'm having a super hard time remembering what food I actually like to eat?? I was eating pretty much exclusively pasta and potatoes in WA because that's what we could afford.

Everything at the grocery store looks so foreign. My grocery list is just "salad making stuff".

Keep us posted on Crossfit! My cousin is super into it (her hubby too) and they're Crossfit lifestylers at this point. Paleo all the way, going to regionals, etc. and it sounds like it does wonders for you.

I did my first proper "run" of the season this afternoon. Holy ever living h*ll. I didn't realize my muscles had atrophied so badly. Need to build up my endurance from ground zero. Ow. Also, perhaps invest in a indoor running track next winter.

My obgyn wants me to get a blood draw to check out my thyroid. It's giving me a lot of anxiety, has anyone had thyroid issues before?

Now that I have a job and know my schedule, I'm going to hit the gym on my off days. Once I get into the habit, I hope to make it stick! It's just getting into the habit that sucks. Lol

And thanks. I know I'm not overweight, but I'm the heaviest now that I've ever been (creeping up past 145 now). That coupled with being completely out of shape just makes me feel bleh, especially when I've spent the day doing nothing. I'm making a point now to stop focusing on the scale and start focusing on my body. I do that with the dogs, don't know why I wouldn't do it with myself. LOL

Had a great run/walk (thank you distracted dogs), just over 9km in slightly over an hour. LOVING the new place with all the trails to explore.

We've got a 5k coming up the first weekend of June, I am hoping to beat my time from last year which I think was 28 minutes. Working on building endurance and pacing myself over the next couple weeks.

It feels so great to get out running again!
