Vacation with the family is finally booked (it's been a process). Anyway, we'll be staying in Falling Waters, WV in mid-July. We're hoping to dog Gettysburg one day, maybe send some people to DC to walk around & explore.

Any "must see" things to do in the area? There will be 8 adults, 1 - 2.5 year old, 1 - 1 year old, and at least 1 dog.

Jackson looovess visiting Gettysburg! And hey, keep me posted. Sometimes were there around the same time. :)

I love Harpers Ferry, WV. So pretty. Jackson swam in the Shenandoah River and loved it.

At Gettysburg, we always stay at 1863 Inn of Gettysburg (although it may be a Marriott now?), it's right next to the Jenny Wade house. And also across the street is the O'Rourkes irish pub where Jax loves to sit outside with us and eat.

You definitely must visit the National Park with all the monuments. Great views and a fun time. Little Round Top:

Walking the battlefields is a very nice walk too, I believe this is along Seminary Ridge but I could be wrong.

Here was our last trip:

But anyway, I love Gettysburg. Itching to go back.

As far as the HUMAN things to do, in Gettysburg, the ghost tours are always a blast, as well as the bus tours (but they're long, and if you're limited on time, I'd recommend just exploring yourself). The Shriver House Museum is a cool place to visit and the Jennie Wade House.

The Dobbin House is a GREAT restaurant. Good food, but just so much history. We like eating down in the basement - very dark, candle lit, there's a bar down there.
