I will definitely be trying this trick with my girl Paisley this week! I can't guarantee anything more than pictures, though. (We don't have a video camera and I don't have a remote for my camera so even then the pictures may not be that great.)

Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely be stocking this "trick of the week" thing!

Here is Dex's foot rebound! I had to use the front facing camera on my phone to film it so it's not the best quality :/

Great work with Dex. I figured she'd be a bit big for this, but you proved me wrong. Awesome!

Cricket is so spunky and adorable. I think you'll get this one no problem with some good reward placement and breaking it down into bite sized pieces for her.

Great work everyone!

Didgie looks great. I see her doing the same thing as Cohen does and target the top of your foot instead of the sole. Not a big deal right now, and you can work her out of it. I just think it's funny that I can see the same thing crop up.

**** you guys and your spunky dogs. Love them all.

Thanks! She's pretty light on her feet (I can hardly feel her rebound off my body when she does it). Won't be trying the foot rebound with Dodger, that's for sure!!

Here's his old video. It looks much better now, it's a very tight little turn but OMG HE HITS SO HARD. I can't do it without support at the moment, but I'm working on getting away from the wall. In the old video, he's super easy about it, but its a very wide turn (and one foot doesn't even make contact with me). The tighter I have him turn, the harder he hits me.

It always amazes me how nicely Dex hits for her rebounds. And then I have wrecking ball tiny Zuma who nearly knocks me over.

Slow and steady wins the race right?

Very very happy with how things are going. She is getting much more comfortable actually jumping ON me now. We are at a point where most times she touches me with all 4 feet... sometimes it's actually painful. lol. Her turn has become a little less tight as a result but honestly for her I think that is a smaller hurdle than actually jumping at me so I might let that slide right now and try to tighten it up later as she comes comfortable. Though honestly I'm not sure how to tighten it up since reward placement IS where I want her to be. But meh... as I said, still pretty happy.

She's come a long way already. Sara gave me some good advice as far as tightening up the turns: reward from your hand. It's premature to do so now, as I think right now your concern should just be the jump on/off motion. Reward on the floor is just fine until the mechanics are down.

I had a good session this morning with Cohen. She was pushing off like crazy during her first few foot rebounds of the session. We got quite a few tidy through-spin-rebound repetitions where both she and I are getting more confident in our foot placement. I can't wait for the summer again so we can practice this stuff outside with more room to move.

Thanks for the tip! I will try that later on when we get there. Right now I think my next step is to possible move to a smaller seat... so maybe a dining room chair, so that she doesn't have the option to try to jump behind me looking for footing. And then after that I might try removing the seat and "sitting" against the wall.

Can't wait to see the sequence with Cohen! That's such a neat trick.

Awww this makes me want to attempt this with my Ibizan. I've been hesitant to try it with him because bit tall long awkward body and all, but it might be neat to see him attempt this.

I backed up a step with Cricket and now I'm focusing more on rewarding her from my hand to get her to turn more. I'm already seeing a lot more improvement. I will definitely try to get some video. Might bring my camera to work with me today.

Do it!

And it is SO awkward. lol. I'm not totally convinced this will work with such a large, long, long legged dog. But it's worth a try. Only thing is if she does get it, I can see her throwing this at me randomly out of the blue and knocking me over.

Fantastic! I love the group from about 1:30 on, she just gets better and more comfortable! And I laughed so hard at the "Good!! That really hurts!!"

I agree with Sekah about rewarding from your left hand, will help tighten it up. I also might maybe try setting her up a little more on your left side she she has more room to turn on your body. As she gets better it won't be as big of deal but when she's still learning it might help set her up a little better.

Yes do it! And don't forget to video and update Cricket's! I want to see!

After you said this I switched to my Vibrams and it seems to be working well because she can't target my toes or top of my feet because it gives in. Starting to get a consistent push off from the middle of my foot. Hoping that will work.

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I will give that a try.

Successfully move to a chair. She now has virtually no other choice but to hit my lap/hip and was pretty happy to do so. Yay! So I'll try setting her up from my left a little more and see if that helps because she is definitely not really completing the turn right now. She hits my lap and makes the quarter turn to the side and jumps off to the side. Still... I'm pretty happy.

I took a video today while working with Didgie and I'm happy I did because her foot placement was off when I thought she was hitting it. Video's can be super useful.

Here's a piece of our session. Foot placement or not I'm very happy with how well she's picking this up! We're doing it with her closer up and much more calm and she's doing great I think.

Maybe it's just me but her foot placement seems fine. Though I don't think she's pushing off with her rear. (Which is yet another issue I'm working through.) What are you looking for exactly?

Worked a bit on the foot rebound with Zuma last night. Added it to a sequence which opened up a whole new can of worms. Trying to take it easy on this trick though because of her shoulder issue (we've gotten the clear to do whatever, but I just don't want it creeping back up).

That was the some of the better ones, throughout it though in between the misses and the good foot placement she was hitting her front feet way off to the side of my foot and sliding but it felt like a hit. I just didn't have any of those in this video.

And I noticed the back feet not pushing off too. But, I think that will correct itself with time. I had the same issue when I first started teaching rebound but as she got more confident and we started doing it in drive she got better and better so I'm hoping this will follow the same path, especially if I stay consistent about where her foot are supposed to go.

Your dog is naturally more springy than mine, but it's an issue that I'm still running into if I'm overtraining or not maintaining criteria. As usual, work out your other kinks first, but I've had to take a more active role in addressing dead back legs.

Ok, here is sort of where we are at. I think I'll leave it about here for a while and let her finish growing, I don't want to get to much height or do too many repetitions at this point.

Any suggestions? Obviously we aren't finished, but I don't know if there's anything in particular to watch out for?

Gosh darn all you people with your awesome, little, springy dogs! So jealous of how quickly everyone else is training this!

Onyx looks awesome. I have no advice obviously. Just awesome.

It depends on what you want to work on first, but I think I'd probably be throwing the toy slightly to your left right now, instead of rewarding from your hand. However that's just me being really nitpicky. She looks great. Keep it up!
