I must fail at navigating the website! I seriously, seriously can't find anything reasonable! My monthly premium increased by 50% this year, and I could barely afford it in the first place!

Apparently I need someone to walk me through it. Because I am a very poor college student. People promised me that'd mean I get very cheap health insurance. I can't seem to find it.
I wonder if we are looking in the wrong place. I was on mnsure.com ....

My best buddy left today. Everyone else here hates him, but I'm going to miss him so much.

Why is it that whenever I find those people I click with at work, they move? Or I move?

Try making a new account with a different email address. I had the SAME problem, and that's what fixed it.

http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/

Is where i went . It is where I read to use for this .
Those are just to give you a rough idea, you MUST apply on the healthcare.gov website (or by phone/mail-in) to make sure AND to apply for exemptions from the tax penalties. You MUST use the healthcare.gov website. It's the ONLY official place to go, everything else is only an estimate. And a poor estimate at that. If you need to go to a different website for your particular state, the healthcare.gov website will point you in that direction.

If medicaid was expanded in every state, this would all work MUCH better, but no, people had to break it just so they could say "Look, it's broken!" :wall:

I did that and this is what it says

https://www.healthcare.gov/find-premium-estimates/
and
https://www.healthcare.gov/find-pre...loyerCoverage=no&householdSize=8&income=34200

still can not afford it at 200.00 a month . I looked all around . I know I went to the right places , I can read and follow directions.

Also on the medicaid expansion , I agree with the why it was not expanded in my state , (The state cant afford it).

You still need to fill out an application. Those are still estimates only. It's certainly possible that you still can't afford it, but you can't know for sure until you fill out the application - and then if you can't afford it you need to fill out the application to not get a tax penalty.

That's bull, though. The federal government is footing the bill. It costs states more to NOT expand than it does to expand.

yeah, my brother's first estimate or quote or whatever was almost $200 a month. It wasnt til he entered all his info and got close to the end that he was able to get his actual out of pocket per month.

The thing is, health care should be a top priority for this country..making sure everyone is covered. We sure can seem to find money for other things.

SO I went to fill it out , and the only way to afford it is to get one where i have to pay a 6500 deductible before they cover ANYTHING. So i would be paying 35.00 a month to not go to the doctor (cause i cant pay the office visit/labs/meds) in order not to be taxed.

So I am either going to be ****ed now or later , yea thanks obomacare.

I meant to ask , what is this you say about not getting taxed because i applied.

Then you fill out the form to see if you can avoid the penalty. I'm guessing you don't make enough to qualify for subsidies/tax credits and your state didn't expand medicaid.

https://www.healthcare.gov/exemptions/

Read all the exemptions, and if one applies, scroll down and select the right form. I can't think of anyone who really can't afford it and hasn't had at least one of those situations. I know you likely qualify because of this:

You were determined ineligible for Medicaid because your state didn’t expand eligibility for Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
So you apply for that and pay no extra taxes and no insurance premiums. You still don't get coverage, but you don't have to pay anything, either.

Keep in mind, too, that if you or your husband have insurance available through an employer, you probably won't qualify for subsidies. It's designed for people who don't have access to insurance already.

People who bitch about leggings not being pants because they can't pull them off.

Bite me.
Leggings forever!!
Yes. This x 10000000. Leggings are the most wonderful invention since chocolate, ice cream, and the internet. I never wear pants anymore, because why would you when you can wear leggings?!?

I hate wearing pants.

Leggings are not pants. And I do have the legs to pull them off. ;)
Pants: an outer garment covering each leg separately and usually extending from the waist to the ankle —usually used in plural

I love them.

and until King Patrick of the Official Pants and dictionary committee of the world comes down from his castle in the clouds to tell me they aren't pants.
they are pants.

You don't have to like them or think they are fit for any occasion but come on. They are frikin pants.
Jeans are pants, sweatpants are pants, yogapants are pants, khakis are pants.. leggings are pants.

One more person in real life tells me my leggings aren't pants and I'm going to go ahead and take off those PANTS and see how much they like me walking around in my underwear.

I HATE CROCS! DOESN'T MEAN THEY AREN'T SHOES!
