What would you like to accomplish with your dog(s) this year?
What are your goals?
Is there anything you want to start doing differently or better?

My goals with Leo for 2014 are:
- Enter a beginning level "Toss and Catch" competition
- Teach a "Heel" (haven't even started on that one)
- Work A LOT more on recall to get it really consistent even with distractions. Right now he will absolutely and completely blow me off in favor of playing with a dog or worse, chasing a cat.

Compete more. I barely entered any competitions at all, and those I did I didn't do particularly well at. Also, more lessons.

Also also, really clean up our freestyle routine.

More agility training & trialing!

Create a freestyle disc routine.

More tricks!

And #1: Work hardcore on his weird fear issues and his (declining?) confidence in new places.

Meg: Keep her as fit and active as she currently is. Maybe finish her Tournament Masters title, although I really am not worried about any additional titles for her. Maybe try to get her to a barn hunt workshop, because I think she would love it.

Gusto: Finish his PII title. Work on our handling so I feel he is really ready for the masters classes. Continue on the trajectory we are on now with his confidence and decreased stress at trials. Remember that he's a baby and it is all okay.

(1) Keep everyone fit and healthy

(2) MACH Mira!

(3) Take Mira to a dock-diving competition somewhere. Maybe for her birthday

(4) Hit up new hiking trails in addition to our familiar haunts

(5) Teach Webster more ridiculous tricks

(6) ALL the swimming as soon as it's warm enough. Even more than last year, if possible. And I'd like to do some open water swimming/kayaking with Mira, if I can find an appropriate life vest for her to be safe.

That's about it though...we nailed a lot of our big goals in 2013 and I haven't really given serious thought to what else I want to do competition-wise, other than focus on Mira's agility. Mostly I just want to have a lot of fun and keep them all mentally, physically, and socially fit and happy :)

And if we add the puppy I hope we do, we'll be very very busy for sure!

Romeo..I'm hoping to enter a few obedience trials. I still might enter some more rally trials but with a modified jump height. I'm caught in between feeling bad for 'making' him do stuff where I know he has back issues (and eye issues) now, but he still enjoys doing obedience. We are mutually going to work on weight loss and getting fit.

Skye...more agility hopefully. We are taking a break while it's cold, there are still drop-in lessons apparently but it's not easy to practice at this point at home. I'm keeping an eye out for barn hunt workshops, we did one trial and I think she would benefit from a decent introduction.

Fiona...well, we are just getting started! Going to start coming with me to obedience and get some good foundations. All the basics are coming along well at home/around town! Hoping to hit a bunch of events with her and just keep her social and happy. :) Oh, I'm also looking for some herding stuff to do with her.

Zoie...more couch potato hanging out :p.

Compete more. I barely entered any competitions at all, and those I did I didn't do particularly well at. Also, more lessons.

Also also, really clean up our freestyle routine.
I always look at trials coming up, and then think about it and ponder and look at other ones and then the closing dates go by...eh. I need to just pick some to go to.

I want to have fun, keep trying new things, and enjoy every minute of it. :)

I can add: Meet more dog people. Become a better trainer/handler.

  • Herd a LOT more!
  • Get Ned consistently on sheep
  • Get Ned's CGN
  • Keep working on Quinn's heeling
  • Get Quinn's OFA x-rays done (hips and elbows)
  • Start agility lessons again
  • Try different things. Lure coursing, tracking, or barn hunt if I can find it

It's a start at least! Mostly I just want to do MORE with them and continue trying new things (or at least get back doing things we've tried and enjoyed). The CGN is the only title or certification goal I have because I think it's totally attainable. I would love to get Quinn's JHD, but I don't want to put a deadline on that goal because there are so many factors involved :)

Hopefully rally and obed with Gabby. Continue agility foundations and hope someday I can make time to get in on a semi-private with Lauren/Siri. TRACKING when the snow melts!

Rally with Siri!

For me:
- be more consistent!
- Don't stress when things go wrong

For Talon:
- Pass CGC (we will do it darn it! I keep putting it off, but I know he can pass!)
- Compete in every local disc comp this year and at least one in west. wash.
- Try a freestyle disc comp!
-Take more classes (there are three I have my eye on for Feb, March, April)
- Get back into agility after his obedience classes
- Have fun

For Artimis:
- Go to small competitions and working on relaxing
- Working on drive for the frisbee
- Possibly do Rally or Obedience
- Do agility for fun and bonding
- Have fun

I met a lady that's going to help me get started in tracking! I'm looking forward to it!

I don't even know anymore.

I want to keep working on Quinn's agility stuff mainly. Seriously - if we ever trial I will cry my eyes out at the end just for getting there.

Skijor more when there's snow. Scooter more when there's not. Spring and fall mushing vacations!

More nosework.

I guess finish Squash's RL1. I don't know how much I'll compete after that, honestly. I don't dislike it, on the contrary I enjoy it... but I haven't done any trials for several months and I don't really miss it, either.

Play more.
