The girls are getting so big!

Clive turned 3 yesterday! Today he got to move to the 3 yr room at daycare, where they start with more structured activities. One of the supplies he's supposed to take in for activities is safety scissors....I'm not sure of my comfort level of my just turned 3 year old with scissors, lol

Happy birthday Clive!

Lilly celebrated six official months today. I'm busy trying to survive my first holiday season as a mum

So Katie has her life planned out. She is going to be a police man and have a police dog. Then have her fire dog and a pug at home. My child is strange. Lmao

Everyone's kids are growing up too fast.

Blakey is 14 months and still nursing (kill me now). He is the sweetest little one. Very friendly, smart and really into helping. It blows my mind how very much toddler like he already is.

Briggs is three now and we are having a lot of challenges. He is a very jealous little boy and is getting increasingly more aggressive as the days are going on. On a brighter note we are also having a lot of gains. His words he understands have exploded. He knows all his shapes, colours, can count to 30 forwards and backwards, knows the alphebet and is learning to read... now if only he was able to understand conversation! Ha. So pleased with his progress.

Blake and Briggs are both so handsome! Yay for Briggs' progress, too.

I have a question/concern - Lillian is 6 months old and formula fed. She still wakes up frequently in the night, sometimes to eat, sometimes not. Today the doctor said there's no reason she can't sleep through the night (food wise) so try to slowly switch over her night formula to water.

I've heard mixed opinions on that, but as she isn't breastfeeding, I'm not totally against it. I'm not sure it's the right thing to do...anyone have any experience with this?

The problem is, I don't think she's actually hungry. It seems more like a habit, for one thing. Some nights she'll just take a few sucks of her bottle (less than 1/2 an oz), every hour or so, seemingly to fall back asleep. Other nights she'll drink 12 oz overnight, and then go 4-5 hours in the daytime without eating. I've tried more frequent day feedings, but it doesn't seem to help.

I don't mind feeding her through the night if she's really hungry, and would still offer her formula at 12 and 4 (she's got an 8 bedtime), but I'm really not sure she's actually hungry at 12, 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 anymore.

Is that reasonable?

It's never a good thing when day care's number shows up on your call display. I picked Katie up yesterday with a temp of 103. Poor kid she just feels rotten. She seems to be a bit better. Grandma and Papa took over for me around 3:30am since I had to work at 8:00. Hopefully she's much better today. If not I think they will take her to the walk in clinic for me. I it's super serious I will leave work. My co worker is great but the boss is a dunk ass with no compassion or understanding of life so unless its very serious I wouldn't be able to leave without risking being fired. I'm sure she's fine though jut feels like crap. She's in good hands for the day though

Does she take a paci at all?

Comfort sucking is important definitely so that could be what is going on if she is not actually taking much food.

She does take a paci, but it's odd, kind of like she wants just a sip of milk to help her fall asleep. She'll cry and spit out the paci, then take one or two sucks on the bottle and fall asleep.

I wouldn't put a baby that young on water. Briggs was formula fed from 6 months on. Blake has been breastfed (still is at 14 months) and at a year they started going to bed with a bottle of water. I would wait till she actually sleeps through the night personally. Under one is still so little.

Yeah, I've decided against giving her water. It seemed a bit out of left field that our dr suggested it. I don't think it's appropriate at this time, maybe at closer to a year.

Falon is so adorable.

Does anyone know where I can find that picture that's a big diagram of a house with baby proofing info room by room?
Thanks! Did you ever find this diagram? We really really need to get on childproofing, Falon is not quite crawling but she is a super fast wiggler.

Today the doctor said there's no reason she can't sleep through the night (food wise) so try to slowly switch over her night formula to water.
My doctor said the same thing at our six month appointment and it totally threw me. Based on what I've found, as long as you're not concerned about weight and they're getting enough calories during the day six month olds should be able to sleep 10-12 hours. You should check out The Sleep Lady. It's a really great book and it's pretty much the gentlest sleep training I've found.

I don't know. I've had two babies and watched many more than that and NONE slept through the night without a night feed that long. Blake at 11 months went into a crib and stopped night feeding. Briggs also around 12 months slept through the night. It seems very strange to me.

-_- we did read the sleep lady. And the no cry sleep solution. And another similar one. All it did was help her take longer naps.

I didn't find the diagram! I'm still looking for it, Lillian's not only crawling now but trying to climb up stuff and she's crazy fast and into everything!

Yeah, I'm not looking to get her to sleep 10 hours (although she has in the past for multiple days in a row). I'm looking for like, 5 hours. 4 even. And if I did do the water thing, I'd still give her night feedings of formula, just less than the every 45 minute sips she's looking for.

Well, she fell asleep at 9 and it's going on midnight, so that's a good sign.

Different kids are different I guess? I also think being physically able and mentally able to sleep through the night aren't the same thing and probably don't happen at the same time.

In my experience with my kid - Falon has slept for 10 hours with no wake ups for up to two weeks running (our streaks are always broken by teething). We had good luck with the sleep lady stuff but we really aren't strict about wake ups. If she wakes up I usually just nurse her for the cuddles and because it helps boost my supply. Obviously it doesn't work that way for everyone but based on everything I've read, a generally healthy 6 month should physically be able to sleep through the night.

Honestly, I have not knowingly met a 6 month old who sleeps 10 hours plus. I was always told sleeping through the night was a 6 hour stretch, and yeah, still dont really know any it happens for consistently.

I know it CAN happen and does, but I dont think its necessarily common or something one should expect. Mine were not sleeping that long til they were two or later.

Sleep often changes too...they go into patterns of sleeping long stretches then something happens, a development or milestone, teething, illness, etc and it changes again.

I hear you. Blake was constantly up at that age forever on the boobie. Briggs was a much better sleeper but now is awful. He is up screaming all the time now at night and has to sleep in bed with me (and boots my boyfriend out) or no one is getting any sleep.
