I like lists, a lot. And I need them to get my training goals clear since I tend to go into training sessions all scattered.

So I thought it might be fun to list our training list for the winter months and maybe help keep what you want to do straight.

Traveler & Didgie
  • Shoulder Stall
  • Leg Stall
  • Foot Stall
  • Foot Rebound
  • Handstand/backed up against me
  • Alternating flips
  • Front and rear crosses
  • Crawl Forwards and Backwards

Traveler
  • Arm Hoops
Didgie
  • Pivots
  • Reverse Leg Weaves

Clean up
  • Spin
  • Backup
  • Reverse Leg Weave
  • Overs
  • Bounce

Actually train them.

It's been on my to-do list for like a week to come up with a training plan.
For like a week.
onnnnn the to-do list.
yep...

The only one who doesn't get a to-do training list is Pepper. Pepper's list is like "SNUGGLE MORE."

On my white board I have in big letters "Just GET UP and train them. Five minutes, that's all you need. Get. Up." for the times I get in a slump.

So, what I'm saying is I totally get where you are coming from:rofl1:

Talon is working on:
Better heeling (Right and Left sides)
Longer sit/down stays
Stays with Distraction work and out of sight Stays
Stand Stay
Foot Stalls
Back Stalls
Leg Weaves
Handstand
Backup

Art isn't working on as much, David is suppose to do his training
So they are doing:
Handstands (working towards walking forward)
Attention
Tighter heeling
Learning Left and Right sides

Once school starts again it's going to be a struggle to get motivated I think, but right now I'm so bored Talon get's tired before I do lol

I can't make good resolutions because I NEVER keep them.

But very broadly:

Siri, I would like to keep training in agility, and maybe try some stimulus control on for size? lol Not sure if THAT is going to happen.

Frodo, well, we were going to try rally, but he's been feeling pretty crappy lately :/ if he feels better once we start treatment, maybe those dreams can come back into play. That would make me happy :)

For myself:

I want to put more of myself into training. I feel like I've been coasting, and my dogs deserve more.
I'd like to start working on her CDX, so this means cleaning up heeling and getting the reinforcement off my body.
I'd like to further her agility titles, so this means working on keeping bars up and introducing both her and myself to more Euro-style handling.
I'd like to put together a movie of all of Cohen's tricks (and some yet to be taught).
I'd like to do more flyball and tighten up her box turn, but that's not really a set goal.
Utilizing play more as reinforcement instead of defaulting to food.

Tricks for Cohen:
Riding a skateboard at speed
Handstand on a raised platform
Pawing at her nose/shame face.
Maybe one day I'll teach her how to army crawl.
Jump rope

Cleaning up:
Better foot/hip/back rebounds.
Spin -> rebound
Out of sight stays.
Actually, teaching "stay" in general. I lost it somewhere.
Beg/standing during foot/back stalls.

I love Chaz for inspiration on new tricks and behaviours. :)

I just need to debut my dang dog in something already.

I'd like to try to get Bloo a CGC.

Okay, here's my list for real:

Auggie:
Work on sends and the "go" command, restrained sends as well, to build drive and speed and confidence
Jump work, jump work, and more jump work

Payton:
Keep cleaning up weaves

Both dogs:
First jump focus
Directions
Wraps
DM groundwork exercises
Improve 2o2o performance

Now to break that down into a schedule...

Kimma:
Confidence building
Work tough weave entries
Do some more Rally stuff with her
Tricks :D

Jari:
Teach him how to not be insane at all times
All things agility
Get his CGC

Pen:
Play a lot of ball and keep visiting the nursing home :)

Bubbles:
I really need to up her training to get her CGC at least - I would like to have her therapy certified within the next couple of years

Quinn

Basic Scent Discrim and Tracking
Keep working on her Agility foundations
Keep working on breaking down her DR
Continue to tidy up her heeling
The retrieve
Stand for exam

Tricks - ride a skateboard, FINISH her handstand, take item to a place etc. I use these for demo's for training students to show them how shaping works.

I'm basically using her to toy with a lot of the stuff I want to get right from the start with (hopefully) early 2015 puppy. I still have trialling in agility as a goal but it just keeps getting pushed back.

Stimulus Control. And lots of tricks, but mostly stimulus control. I like planning, but I don't actually like having a plan. :p

We are also gearing up for a hopeful ORT with both in spring. My main goal is debut Summer in akc agility in spring though her weaves aren't as good as Mia's. work through Mia's weirdness too.

My list:

In the immediate future, serps, threadles, tunnel threadles and blinds. Plus we had a bit of trouble with our forced front crosses (me not her lol) and teaching straight line 'go'.

Continue tunnel proofing, bar proofing and passing obstacles without doing them.

Continued teeter work, then add other contact equipment and slowly increase height.

The end of Jan or there about the goal is to start 2x2s.

I need to get her out more and work in new distracting environments.

Keep working on Kris Obedience until Agility foundation in February. I take her over to a friend's every Tuesday to practice in her large basement and also working on Rally signs with her.

Give Remmy and Lucy time off from Agility until Feb.

Just for the record, I forget how much stalls hurt when you start working on a new one. My shoulder stall is coming along nicely and their aim is pretty good (though Traveler still thinks drapping himself across my shoulders like a cat is what I want) but everytime they misjudge a bit and I get nails in my neck I want to cry.

Siri, I would like to keep training in agility, and maybe try some stimulus control on for size? lol Not sure if THAT is going to happen.
Hey! You remembered the word-Stimulus Control! :rofl1:

In all seriousness I'm working on impulse control (sorta similar!) like crazy because my dogs are seriously lacking in it. We're working on using perch to hold stays during anything because I would like one day to be able to have them hold it while I teach.

And yes, I did buy two stools just for the dogs. One is pink and one is blue.

Cleaning up:
Better foot/hip/back rebounds.
Spin -> rebound
Out of sight stays.
Actually, teaching "stay" in general. I lost it somewhere.
Beg/standing during foot/back stalls.

I love Chaz for inspiration on new tricks and behaviours. :)
A: How did you start your foot rebound? I'm planning on starting that and am trying to gather a plan of action

B:Spin -> rebound, is that a spin into a rebound? Or you spinning while she does rebounds off you?

C: What is stay? :rofl1: I know exactly where you are coming from. That's why I'm happy they at least get stay when they're sitting on something. I love when I'm trying to take a group shot and my stay is "Staaaay, wait, wait, staaaaay, wa----Ok, nevermind then."

Stay is the bane of my existence with Mia. She's good if there's a visual thing there to stay on-like a mat or couch or even a target. But on her own nope no way. Summer has a solid stay though.

We're kind of taking it easy at the moment. At home, I'd really like to reduce some obnoxious attention-getting behaviors. And always, always working on passing and On By on the skis.

I had a hip/chest rebound already, so I just introduced a platform into it (I wrapped a large hardcover book in a fleece sweatshirt) and started asking for rebounds on that while it hovered around my hip. Once you've got it on a platform, you can start moving it anywhere. Move platform to foot (but don't fall over), ???, profit.

Spin -> rebound is a spin into a rebound. Cohen's rebound form goes to pot after a spin. She's all loose and gangly (and possibly dizzy) and hits much lower. So I'd like to maintain stiffer criteria to raise it up a bit since I really like the sequence.

Me spinning while she rebounds could be interesting... or really awkward.

I keep half-working on rebounds with Payton and then getting distracted. I want a frickin' dog catch more than anything but I can't convince him to trust me to do it LOL. He's all "Are you sure? You really want me to jump up there? Really? You won't be like OW GOD )(#*(! after I do it??"
