A couple of weeks ago, a pit bull came up to me while I was walking Kai. Lets just say, she ended up lovestruck with me, and ended up following me and staying near my home. I didn't mind that because I wanted to find her home or a rescue to take her. The thing is, I thought she was just a large pit bull but it is becoming evident that she is pregnant. I have seen her before out on walks with a pack of dogs before so it isn't that hard to believe. The thing is, this just makes it harder. I've contacted the local pit bull rescues here in Alabama, but they are all full. One told me they will try to spread the word via facebook so I'm holding on hope for that. I've told almost every dog lover I know about her in hopes of finding a home but had no luck in that department.

The major problem: my father wants her gone. Right now. He does not want her hanging around anymore and plans to call the animal control. I've just called them today to check out there policies and they told me pregnant dogs are usually put to sleep after the 7 day period. Unfortunately, that is not going to sway him from calling. I was able to convince him to wait until Friday, but after that it is a done deal. I've contacted a couple of more people and waiting for their reply right now, but it doesn't look good.

She is very sweet and great with animals. If anyone would like to take her, please contact me, or if not, spread the word about her.

Here she is. Her being mostly black, pit bull, and possibly pregnant is making it nearly impossible to find somebody.

OK, try these two rescues to see if they can help or have someone who can help:

A Place to Bark (has a site on Facebook too)

  • P.O. Box 649
  • Portland, Tennessee 37148

Phone(615) 681-2631

On Facebook, send a message to: Glenda Sheppard Campbell

She does transport for lots of rescues.

She works with this rescue on facebook too:

Gigi Foster & Adoption Center

  • P.O. Box 1984
  • Goodlettsville, Tennessee 37070
I've just sent a message to both places. The Peaceful Pit Bull Humane Society in Alabama just told me they shared her story on facebook, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If anyone needs my actual address, it is 1624 30th St. Ensley in Birmingham, Alabama.

I might be able to convince my father to extend the date longer than Friday if anyone shows interest.

A Place to Bark just responded and said they were full and don't do out of state( understandable). Still waiting for the other to respond.

Try WWW.aforeverhome.org

You're probably a bit far (rescue is in northern va) but they take in a lot of moms with puppies. You could suggest possibly trying to get a transport set up if they would be willing to take her. i honestly don't have a clue what the likelihood is but they're a reputable rescue so it's worth an email or call. They can be slow to respond to emails so you may have to send two...

Pardon any typos... Typing from my phone...

Have you contacted Bama Bully Rescue?
Yes, they were full too. The thing is, Birmingham is a pit bull city. Pit bulls are the most popular dogs here so the pit bull rescues here tend to be already overflowing with dogs.

You might ask the Bully Underground Rescue Network on facebook if they would post her on their page for you. They are not a rescue, they just network to try and find homes for dogs.

Good news. I found a place that would take her and if she proves adoptable, they will do a spray abort and put her up for adoption. She is such great dog temperament wise so she should past it, but she also has to past a health test and I so hope that she does. I'm going to be keeping an eye on her.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.:)

Glad to hear this. Sending lots of vibes that she passes all the tests and gets to go on to a loving home.
