The dog musing/vent thread

The vet called. They think it's a tumor on the spleen that's bleeding into the abdominal cavity, that the fluid that's bloating her is blood.
He said they could do an ultrasound to see if it spread but that the likelihood is high that even if it doesn't show up in the ultrasound that it's spread. They said they could take the spleen out, but again he thinks it's metastasized.
He did say that as far as cancers go it's not painful, that they bleed into their abdomen and just kinda go into a coma.
We didn't get to talk to the same vet that saw her so we're going to call the other vet tomorrow but, not good.
Luckily, she's overall comfortable, she seems like her stomach being that bloated is bothering her a bit but doesn't seem to be in pain.
Just, it's not fair. We're going to end up loosing both her and Kaylee back to back and my dad is not doing well and it's just bad.

Buzz was so eager to work tonight, so we did. He wanted to trot, so he did. I asked him for sits and downs, and he did. And then he was sad and his legs were fatigued. It sucks that we only get 15 minutes max to do physically active stuff, and then he just can't. I wish there was some magical fix for ailments related to getting old but all I can do is keep on doing what we've been doing.

This is going to seem really trite compared to everything else going on...
Miranis making it really **** hard to not keep a Mirapuppy. I had a plan! I was being strong! Different breed next, breeding already picked out (heaven knows I like my variety) then hopefully a Mira grandpuppy one day if some of her pups turn out the way we hope.
Then she goes out and impresses the heck out of me and everyone else at these working tests and I get all wishy-washy again. And hubby is all for keeping a Mirapup. And frankly I can't think of a FCR breeding that would be more suited to what I want in a dog.
Why can't FCRs be in the 30-pound range?

It'll be one OR the other. If neither pan out for some reason, then no puppy for a while.
There are a lot of variables and other aspects weighing in. If I didn't like Mira's match so much this would be a lot easier. At least one pup is likely staying local, though, so that will be nice.
Unless Linds figures out how to clone Traveler. Then all bets are off.

When is she being bred/when is the other litter intended to happen? If one doesn't work out on the first shot, then you have the other. 
If Mira is first -- if we elect not to keep a puppy for whatever reason (all males, small litter and we decide we can't turn away some of the homes that have been waiting, etc), then the other litter is in play.
If the other litter is first then we won't be taking a puppy from it because raising a FCR litter will be a full time job for us for several months. I don't do things by halves.
So you're right, timing will dictate options.
No I'm serious! Auggie's breeder said the reason Georgie is so small is because she had a smaller crate!

I can understand the struggle though. I still can't decide if I want to get a Payton puppy the first time he is bred, or if I would rather wait and watch those puppies grow and get one on a future breeding. Of course it's easier since I have the dog and not the bitch and he'll likely be bred more times than a bitch would be, so I CAN wait. But do I really want to? Can I seriously resist Payton puppies being out in this world and NOT have one??
Most of them will probably go local-ish, to people I at least see fairly regularly at agility trials, so that MIGHT help me resist... might.
Or it might make me go WHY DIDN'T I GET A PUPPY. WHY.
