I plan on contacting the AKC next week but I am curious if anyone has experience contacting the AKC to see if a dog's litter was ever registered, and thus the dog could be registered. I do have breeder name(s) and date of birth, but nothing else.

I know someone who was able to track the parentage of an Aussie through ASCA and have him granted full registration, but I've never heard of it from AKC.

I may or may not be seriously contemplating figuring out a way to keep my foster.

If you have the breeder name is contacting the breeder for documentation an option? I'd think that would be the best bet. Otherwise, there's nothing to actually prove your dog is the offspring of that particular pair and you didn't just pick a random AKC registrable breeding to claim that he's from. If they do have a mechanism for registering that way, it probably involves DNA testing to verify parentage and you'd need the breeder's cooperation to get DNA samples from the parents anyway.

If you just want to register him to be able to compete in stuff, he should be able to get an ILP easily when/if he's neutered.

I could try contacting the breeder, I'd just need to run that by the rescue coordinator.

I'm not concerned about being able to do AKC events with her, I'm just very curious about her parentage. I have plenty of options without needing AKC.

Keep her because she is amazing! And rename her Dozer, like...as in bulldozer. Cause she does.

The AKC is able and willing to search their database to see if the litter was ever registered.

If this comes up in a search for anyone, the information the AKC needs is breeder name(s), address, and DOB of puppies.

I posted this on the FB group too but...

Registered name ideas...?

Unless someone has a compelling argument against it, the prefix(es) will be "Aroha's ESRA" and then I need... something else. I originally thought "Gift of Gab" but Lauren pointed out to me that she's an incredibly quiet dog, so that's an oxymoron.

Anyways... ideas?! She's pretty much the polar opposite in terms of looks (I wanted a black boy with a tail... she's a faded tri girl with the shortest tail ever) regarding what I wanted in my next dog. But her temperament is exactly what I was looking for. And no, nothing is finalized yet. I'm just... uh, planning. Yeah, planning.

I contacted her breeders on Friday. The email address I was given bounced, so I googled and found her via FB. If I don't get a response in a few days, I'll try the phone number I was given.

I can't wait to see her pedigree and get her registered!

The email address I got bounced. The phone number didn't work. My attempts at FB contact failed. So I mailed a letter yesterday.

Hopefully they respond to that!
