The dog musing/vent thread

I have an Aunt that is HUGE into BC's, now this isn't an assumption that all owners of BC's are like this, but I have met a good many who are, both at rallies & just in general "canine" public places like PetsMart.

But she is very "if its not a BC then its inferior" or "you wanted to do agility but didn't get a BC?" Uh ... sorry, but BC's aint for me. their temperament just isn't for me, I like a tougher dog mentally, she thinks ACDs are "brutish & stupid". Uh ...no ... they are just tougher & harder then your silly little sheep dog, lady.

I think we might have made a mistake bringing this puppy home. My dogs are stressing out BAD. Pirate wants to kill her. Crate and rotate is going ok for now but our house isn't set up for it. There is no way I'm calling the people who had her before. Sure, they were nice but they didn't care for her well. She is still all matted and I'll probably have to shave her belly. It's a solid mat. She was covered in fleas. I gave her a second bath today. I feel bad for her and I feel bad for my dogs. And I'm stressing too! Not a good situation.

**** feral cats in my neighborhood are driving me crazy. Last night I'm assuming it was a cat who tore open the trash bag in our trash can and pulled out a raw bone. It was sitting on my back porch just outside the door.

This morning another cat just outside my front door, had to pull Jubel back inside to calm down because he was SO close to getting it as we walked out the door.

Go for our walk and see a few more around the neighborhood. Crossing the bridge back into our neighborhood after our walk and there is a cat with her kitten on the bridge. Kitten runs and cats starts her ground, I back off and wait for her to run too. Won't budge. Creep up on her, still won't go. Had to get a long stick to poke her, still didn't move until I lightly tossed it at her. Finally shocked her into realizing she could turn and run I guess. Entire time Jubel is going nuts trying to get to the cat. Never had so many cat issues in 24 hour block in the 3.5 years I've lived here.

I asked 4 days ago that my foster dog find another foster. I haven't seen anything being done about it. I was told "Oh okay. I'll find someone."

So... find someone. Like soon. Or ask or SOMETHING

Sometimes karma makes me smile....I know! Especially when nosy, ungrateful "friends" get back exactly what they wrongfully accused others of doing.

He got 1/2 a tablet with both breakfast and dinner. I don't know if I totally buy the Chinese herbs thing but my dog was pooping and throwing up all over my house and skinny as a rail so I was going to try anything. =P We did both for I think four months, one month additional after he was off the Tylan powder. The B12 injections I did for a year... I still have it on hand for emergencies but haven't needed it. It might not even be good anymore.

A random guy who Panzer met in the Bass pro shop thought Panzer was a cougar hound, by cougar hound he means coon hound. The hunters call them cougar hounds down here. I guess I can see it. Pan does look pretty houndy.

The person who did his test is a HUGE Border Collie fan, and made a remark about how ACDs are a very "thick headed" breed and not nearly as good at Border Collies. Border Collies are smart, but they aren't God's gift to man. There are a LOT of other dogs in this world that can do everything they can and than some.

Crossbone found a loud grunting pig toy in the bottom of his toy basket and has been trying to kill it (while it LOUDLY protests) for literally 45 minutes and counting. Worst toy ever.

I wish I could keep my foster. She's pretty darn perfect. We've just been hanging out in Tim's backyard most of the evening and aside from a few woofs if people disappear for too long, she's been content to hang out. In just six sessions, she's got a really good concept of LLW.

That right home is out there Gaby, it has to be!

Watching Shaman grow and develope makes me sad for Gambit. Socially, Shaman is leaps and bounds ahead, and there is no way that Gambit will ever catch up. Most of the time I'm fine with that, though I would sell my first born for the magic bullet for him.

But there is not a dog on this planet who could love me the way Gambit does. He doesn't want toys or chews, or activities. He only wants me. But his fears prevent us from being together as much as we could. I can't take him to friends houses, or to petsmart, or to any of the million and ten pet friendly events that my town hosts because he just can't handle it. And he will never be able to.

He's a good sport about being left behind, but I see how sad it makes him when I take Shaman and not him. Sometimes its unavoidable, but there are so many times that I know I could take both, if it wouldnt make Gambit terrified.

Poor guy. He's too wild to be truely comfortable as a dog, but far too tame to be wild, or even live in a sanctuary type environment. I wish I could fix him.
