So while we where playing fetch Pan started humping when we had the ball in our hands. I am pretty sure it was a playing thing. We redirected that behavior and he has not done it since.

He does not hump Teagan. Most likely because he knows he would get bitten hard, but he has started to hump other puppies and again redirected.

now, I just want some advice and tips on other ways to deal with this. I've never dealt with a humper and even though he hardly does it. I don't want it to become a habit.

Thanks friends :)

Just redirect. It's probably not sexual in this case, just a reaction to being revved up. My sweet bitch Tully, for pretty much her entire life, would hump my other dogs when we came home from a walk, while they were waiting for me to get the door open. My other dogs never cared, so I actually never tried to stop the behavior, but since yours is going to be a big boy, and not so limited in the behavior, I can see why you'd want to keep it from becoming a habit.

Siri LOVES humping. We pretty much just tell her how gross she is and don't allow her to do it.

Brooks, too, would like to join the cool kids in the humpy party. Mainly one dog at the dog park, but he occasionally thinks he can try with Goose. She says he's stupid.

I redirect as I will not have the humpy dog, lol.

Humping is rude, no matter their reasoning. I have seen several argue over this behavior so I just redirect Phelan right now. He's not a big humper but he's tried moving his hips a few times lately.
