Neutering questions

I've put off neutering my pittie mix for the past two years that we've had him, but recently, the thought of adding a third male dog into the house has made us think twice, and brought me to the conclusion of getting him done.

However, I've been reading on some pros and cons and am starting to doubt my decision. I'd like to know what's everyone's opinion on it..pros and cons, health wise and behavioral?

After reading the experiment done on Goldens in Europe, I believe neutering at maturity is what I will always do to a non-breed worthy dog. DEFINITELY no early spay/neuter, but neutering at maturity, IIRC, seemed to have the lowest chances of related health issues.

For larger breeds I'd wait until 24-28 months. For most smaller breeds, I do 9-18 months depending on the dog and the situation. I did get Nola spayed at 7 1/2-8 months, because malignant mammary tumors are very common in Dachshunds (thankfully the breed isn't too susceptible to other cancers) and it wasn't a risk I was willing to take since all of the bitches related to her went into heat at 9 to 10 months. The house I was renting at the time also didn't allow intact dogs over 12 months of age, too.

This is what I plan to do with my male dogs as well.
