My friend's dog was attacked by a pit bull while she was at her hotel for regionals. She wasn't even out her room door when the dog charged in and dragged her dog out into the hallway. Yep.... off leash pit bull in a hotel. Apparently my trainer's dog bit the pit bull owner when he went to try to kick the dogs apart so her dog was quarantined 10 days in another state. She missed getting to run at regionals. She was beaten up and bruised and bit on the hand by the pit. Pit was quarantined but the owners never picked up their dog and so it was probably put to sleep. I feel really bad for her and her dog. It is lucky he is so hairy because it seems like the pit mostly ripped out his hair and gave him a long scrape down his back and ripped his ear.

Seriously though.... I want to smack that owner. Why would you let your dog loose in a hotel hallway?

:madgo::madgo::madgo:

Wow, another dumbass owner contributing to the problem. Sad for your friend, glad they're ok. Also sad for the pit....it's not his fault he had a stupid/selfish owner.

I'm frustrated. Josh and I are supposed to go down to GA next Friday because my mom is getting married again on Saturday. I don't want to go at all but it makes my mom happy I guess. I just don't want anything to do with this new guy and I already keep my mom at arm's reach. I really only want to see my step dad from her last marriage while we are down there but he lives in Atlanta which is another 3 hour drive away so not sure I will get to see him.

The only thing that was making me excited about this trip was that we are stopping in Corolla, NC on our way back because a friend of Josh's family owns a house two blocks from the beach. He was going to have Josh remodel a bathroom in the house. It's not technically a vacation since josh is going to be working there the whole time, but the guy said we can stay in the house while he does the work. Josh gave him an estimate factoring in gas costs from here to Corolla and back and the guy said that is too expensive and he was expecting to only pay half of that since he said we can stay there a week or two. I don't think he realizes that josh will be working the WHOLE time and that this is not a vacation for him. I will be with him for a few days but he will be working and I will have to find something to do on my own those few days that I'm there. I can't take an extra week off so that josh and I can vacation when he finishes the bathroom and he is planning to come straight home to VA after anyways because he has other jobs lined up that he needs to start. I think this guy thinks josh is going to do the job quick and then us vacation for a week or so. Not the case. Josh works 10 hour days usually and then eats and goes right to sleep so he can get up and do it all again. He isn't going to have time to do the beach vacation thing. Josh knocked his price down some so we will see if he goes for it, but he is going to end up losing money with this new price because the original price was already low for what he normally charges for a bathroom remodel. I'm just frustrated and I already got the time off work and everything.

I'm not making enough money at my new job. I mean not making enough to even get by paycheck to paycheck. :( I only took a $1.50/hr paycut from my last job, but I drive so much for this new one that after paying my bills literally the rest of my check goes to gas. Nothing left for food, anything for the boys, nada.

I don't want to leave because I like this job and I really like my boss, but I don't think I can do it. And that terrifies me because I have no idea what I'll do instead. I'm coming to realize that the dog related jobs just don't pay enough, but I have... basically no skills elsewhere. So where do I go from here? Ugh. Super stressed.
I can completely relate. I make $13 an hour which out here is enough to feed and vet the dogs and pay for my gas to get to and from work. $13 an hour out here isn't that great. The only reason I get away with making that kind of money an working with dogs is because my husband makes enough to pay all our bills and food. It isn't going to fly for too much longer though since some of the rentals we are looking at are higher than we wanted to pay. I'm going to have to look for a new job soon and preferably for one with good health benefits.

Do you think talking to your boss would help? Do you have a good relationship with him/her?

Sometimes just laying all your cards on the table works in your favor. From what I can gather I think you're a hard worker and a good employee.

"I really enjoy working here but I'm getting a little concerned about my finances. I took a bit of a pay cut to come work here and I'm driving further, which is tough because gas prices are insane. I was wondering if there was anything we could do to make this more lucrative for me. Am I eligible for a raise anytime soon? Is there something I can do to set myself up for success and promotion here?"

Sometimes just having that discussion with your boss shows them how much you care. I've gotten a raise a time or two using that method. Employers just don't know if their employees are struggling unless we say something.

This has me in tears. A friend of mine is having her dog euthanized tomorrow. It's a medical and behavioral case. She's an incredibly talented professional dog trainer, and she's done everything possible for him. And she has to say good-bye to him tomorrow. It's just not fair.

Rest easy Dobby. You're a very good boy.

That's terrible and yes.....just adding to the problem. I'm glad your friend and her dog will be ok. Honestly, if a dog that dog aggressive is going to be *that* mismanaged, it might be better off euthanized. Sad but that's the reality.

I thought it would be a good idea to work out with my boyfriend tonight.

Now I feel like I might throw up and I don't think I can walk up the stairs.

Why are all my agility notes so scattered and often incomplete..? Why do I have four notebooks and so few pages actually filled out in any of them? Seriously...

Stress and anxiety are quickly becoming normal feelings.

That is not a good thing. :(

However, I am getting better at coping. But I don't want to have to cope. Bah.

Go away stress and anxiety. No one wants you. Especially not me.

It's sad, but I agree, if the owners won't take control of their dog then it's defiantly better off euthed.

Sorry about your friend and her dog, what a horrible way to spend what should have been a fantastic weekend.

My vent, 2, count them TWO rabbit bats were found in Alberta last week! And a woman was bitten by one of them. Wtf? Rabies isn't prevalent here, we had 0 cases in 2011, one in 2012, and 3 this year so far, all bats.

I have new car want, but now isn't a good time. It also doesn't help that I drove by the dealership and they had the exact car that we want. Why couldn't you be found last year when the time was right?!

Two of my ferrets are sick at the same time. Both were giving me concern when I left for my trip, but now that I'm home it's definite.

Vet tomorrow morning. I'm terrified I'll leave with less than I came. Ugh. Ferrets.

I got locked out of my aparmtnet, manager wasn't there at her office so I called her but it wouldn't go through. Tried a second time and the manteneince guy picked up and my phone died right after I said "locked out apt #". Luckily he understood and he even brought treats for the dogs ^_^

I'm worried about Talon's interaction's with dogs onleash now as yesterday a big Dobie jumped on him and grabbed him by the neck and flipped him. >_< It was on the trail we go running on. The guy brings his dobie all the time and it is very well behaved. The guy told us before it has SSA with intact males, but David didn't remember that so I was ahead with Art and as David was passing he stopped and talked to the guy with the dobie. And the guy asked if the dogs could say hi and they did. All was fine until the dobie smelled talon, realized he was an intact male and went for the neck. >_< David totally forgot the guy had said it had SSA and the guy thought Talon was a female. It was a miscommunication on their parts and neither dog is injured, but now I'm worried Talon is going to have fear aggression with other dogs. >_< That makes three attacks/negative intractions with other dogs on leash. The other two where offleash dogs that the owners didn't have control of that was unavoidable for us.

Blah, this is a bad month. Go away September, I want October! October has candy. :p

We made it to Arizona... it's so hot I'm going to MELT. OMG. House hunting up north on Saturday, thankfully it's cooler there than in the valley.
Oo, where in Arizona are you looking? :) (I, sadly, am in the hot-but-less-hot-than-Phoenix part)
