THe happiest face I have seen in a long time, who ever would have guessed the toddler is the reason. he use to abhor toddlers. They made his skin crawl. Now lookie at that, it's Victor's little boy puppy having fun face.

AFter that we have the very grown up, I spy something in the woods stance.

Such a happy boy! It's different when the toddlers are "his" and they know how to act around him.

The babies didnt' become his until about 4 weeks ago. Before that, it was short visits and certainly no more than a couple a month. I was so afraid I was going to end up having to put him in another room, Aiden did not come gentle with animals. Victor thinks if he growls that everyone will get it, and back off, so he has had to learn with Aiden to MOVE. And that was the way it was until about a week ago. Bubbles changed everything. THe day I let Aiden play in the bathtub (my bribe for using the potty chair is to put in about 4 inches of water and let him endlessly pour water from cup to cup gave me a huge surprise. Victor came in, stepped in the tub, and let Aiden pour cups of water that wasn't all that terribly warm, certainly not the way Victor likes it, over his back and neck. He looked at me a little woeful, but when I said you don't have to do this, you CAN get out, he didn't. He hears me telling Aiden WAY TO GO...and YOUR AWESOME and the like, which were all the things I said to Victor when he was a puppy so now his attitude is totally different. To see my old man with his most pleased baby face, tho, I think I will get a big print and put it over my desk because I can't look at that pic without smiling myself. I am so glad he is so happy. If i had had to lock him in a room for 12 hours or so until Aiden could learn better it would have broken Victor's heart. Trying to be there as I am needed to be for my people family as well as my fur and give everyone what they need is tricky. IF Aiden and Baylee can't have pets of their own, thank goodness they are getting the experience early of how good a friend an animal can really be here.

I timed Aiden out for pushing down his sister. He was sitting on the sofa crying and mad as heck at me. Victor jumped up and stayed beside him a foot away. I saw Aiden's hand go out to him. Not long after that the offended baby sister got up on Aiden's other side, and sat with him for his time out. It was really touching. I can't imagine a childhood without that kind of compassion from a dog or cat. Never had a baby sister.

even if he does call him Pepper. At the end of the vid, I know what he is checking for, he is fascinated that dogs poop. Ah well. Never a dull moment with babies around. I do inform him that even THEY do not poop in diapers.
We have spent some serious time in the bathroom last week. Dogs came in and kept us company.
Aiden knows Victor's name is victor he is just a fresh mouthed boy that likes to tease his Nana way too much. click for vid. <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="301" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=eae9d33279&photo_id=9011467091"></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=eae9d33279&photo_id=9011467091" height="301" width="400"></embed></object>

Sounds like Vic is the perfect companion for Aiden. It's nice when children can grow up around dogs that become their best friends too. Baylee is a sweetie. It's so good to see Vic happy and acting young & playful.
