Session two with Sloan: http://youtu.be/60OtsvAQnSY

By the end she got it off the floor and "got dressed" three times but of course my phone was full and it off videoing at this point. Le Sigh.

I love this dang dog, she's so stinking smart. :)
That looks awesome!

Is this how most start this trick? I was actually having trouble visualizing it and this helps. (Did I totally miss it earlier in this thread?) I feel dumb now. LOL
I didn't. That's how I started the rebound without the hoop. Once I had a nice rebound I just added the hoop in.

Oops. Yeah, that's what I meant. If you're going to teach a hoop rebound I'd teach the rebound first (using the chair).

(I didn't initially teach Crossbone to rebound with the chair but used it to fine tune the flow. I'm not sure what method most people use, Crossbone has always vaulted off of me -- now it's just on command and he's doing it in a safer manner.....and at a higher incidence. He now won't jump over my arms (like we learned in a Trick of the Week) but has decided I must want him to vault off of my head.)

I tried the chair method to teach a vault, but I didn't have much success with it and never got very far. For me, I taught a flyball box turn. Then I moved it to a vertical wall (using a slanted board from a table as an intermediary step). I then moved it from the wall to my body. Progress felt slow and sloppy, but we eventually got a nice little vault. For better or worse, Cohen's vault is very light -- she doesn't dig in too hard. Good for the kidneys. Not so good for the flyball lane.

Then we flailed/added the arm hoop.

Sloan looks great!

Are you saying we need a new trick of the week? Because I can put one up.
Yay! I actually meant what should I do to build on this but anew trick would be awesome as well.

Backup is still working on consistently targeting the hoop but he's weirded out by it because it tangles in his legs if he drops his rear. I haven't tried for a video yet and most of our training has been weaves and jump drive but this was been fun to play with!

Sloan rocks my socks. Where did she come from? I want one!
Me too. Sigh. Her dad died about 8 months ago though in an accident and her breeder is considering using her for a joint breeding but we'd like to wait a bit. She's mostly out of French ring/PSA lines, she's really a fun dog and I totally want another one of her.

I sincerely hope you'll let me know when or if that happens!

Sloan is awesome!!

Here are our 2nd and 3rd sessions. Pretty basic of course, but I think Yarrow is enjoying this at least (he can sometimes be hard to keep focused/engaged).

These are edited to cut out boring bits like chewing and tugging and things.

I just realized Dex has another jump through hoop! I only have a few pictures, but if you watch the video link in my signature she does one near the end. It's a fun little trick and easy to teach.
