Gross. Especially in light of what just (finally) happened to Natura Pet post Proctor & Gamble.

Posted to my work peeps, Natural Balance is a huge seller in our stores.

I swear every time I switch to a food Cricket can actually eat something happens to that food brand. She is on the rabbit L.I.D formula.

Well that's disappointing. I don't feed it but always thought the LIDs were a nice option for people.

I have to figure out what I'm going to feed the dogs now. Bamm and Joey can eat anything for the most part, but Cricket has to be on a limited ingredient diet because of her allergies. I was doing a buy 10 get 1 free thing with natural balance and now I gotta figure something out. One of my friends has a GSD that has absolutely severe food allergies to just about everything and natural balance is what he has been on. Not sure what they are going to switch him to.

I really wish I had a full size freezer and could just do raw. I have a mini fridge and my mini freezer is packed with raw for the cat.

Buy as much NB as possible until you can find a food that works?

Ya that's not a bad idea. Just have to find a way to store it without mice getting into the bags since we have mice in our house. I can fit at least two bags of food in my dog food bin. Might buy an extra food bin to store the rest or buy a large tupperware bin that I can fit a few unopened bags in.

Glad we feed Earthborn.
Me, too. I fed it for years, but finally had enough of their "customer service" last year during the Diamond recall.

Earthborn Holositcs might be an option.

Nico has been on NB venison since he could eat food. I have been trying to switch him off of it since he came home because a) I go through so much since he's so active and it's a fairly low calorie food b) I'm not impressed with the fact that it has such a low meat content c) even with my discount ( I get 30% off NB products at work) I don't think it's a good value and d) so many recalls.

Until recently, I haven't been able to find anything that works for him without giving him the runs even after a very gradual switch. Until I found Nutrisource Grain Free. It has a higher fiber content than most grain free foods ( or heck most grain inclusive, at least the variety I got) and it has added pre/probiotics. So far he's doing really well on it. The regular grain free isn't LID, but I'm pretty sure the Pure Vita line is. It's a pretty decently priced food (I'm paying 45 bucks for the 30 pound bag) and the feeding guidelines are less than the NB, so I'm also getting more use out of a similar amount of food. (The biggest the NB comes in is a 28 pound bag for some of the varities.)

Saga will be getting switched to either the Seafood Select or the lamb version when her current bag of food runs out.

The pure vita is definitely limited ingredient, but it is also a 25# bag and more expensive.

They just a couple months ago had a huge recall including all dog, cat and ferret dry foods, plus certain treats?
I knew about that news, but I guess from the way it was worded as 'finally happened' I thought it was something different.

Every time I see this thread I think of fruit cups. And then dog food mixed with fruit cups. lol
I think of...Del Monte owns Nature's Recipe which was part of the huge China/melamine incident in dog foods a few years back. Definitely not a good thing. :(

Probably shouldn't eat their fruit either :p.
