You as a woman or a man, would you be OK with a Synthetic Diamond instead of a real diamond?

Women, would you be ok with a synthetic diamond for an engagement ring.

It's late and I can't sleep so I am doing research on mostly Synthetic Diamonds. HA HA!

I am totally fine with synthetic diamonds. Heck, I didn't even get an engagement ring and my wedding ring was from Walmart. It's more symbolic to me than anything and it doesn't matter to me what it is made of. Most people that see my ring don't even notice that the diamonds on my ring aren't super high quality. I think they are real diamonds, but if u found out they were fake it wouldn't bother me in the least.

Eta: the only thing that would bother me a bit would be if a guy bought me a diamond ring and told me they were real and then I later found out they were fake and not because they are fake, but because I wouldn't be happy being lied to about it in the first place.

There synthetic gems & there are look a likes. Most people think of the look a likes. Real synthetic or lab created gems have the same molecular structure & are "real" gems, they just didn't come out of the ground that way.

Either way they're fine. My cousin owns a diamond mine in the Yukon. DeBeers keeps trying to offer him craploads of money to keep his diamonds warehoused, and he keeps threatening to flood the market with cheap diamonds. lol. They're only expensive because the market is so controlled. He has one they pulled out that was the size of a volleyball.

Personally I like the other semi precious stones, like Chilean lapis lazuli and labradorite. Good labradorite is so pretty. In person it almost has a subtle halo.

I personally do not like diamonds in any fashion and I would be a bit displeased to get a diamond ring, I much prefer emerald or sapphire. But which style I was given would not change my opinion of the person giving it to me.

I also probably wouldn't want a diamond engagement ring anyway, but if for some reason I was receiving a diamond piece, (earrings or something I might like), I don't think it'd make a difference to me.

I didn't want a diamond engagement ring at all (or any engagement ring) but he did get me a big black diamond that I keep around my neck. It doesn't matter to me what it's made out of. It is just annoying when you tell people you're getting married and all they want to see is the diamond ring. *rollseyes*

(Edited He to he...."He" didn't get me a black diamond ;) )

I'm kind of snobby in the way that I wanted a smaller, real diamond rather than a fake larger one.

Our wedding bands are made out of whitetail antler, and my engagement ring (which I got a week before our wedding lol) is technically a promise ring, I think? I love it though, and wouldn't want anything bigger. The ONLY thing I would change, is that the corners are very, very sharp.

I for sure wanted a diamond on my engagement ring, not cubic zirconia or similar, but I honestly don't care if it was lab created or not. There are so many issues with diamond mining in various parts of the world that I'd almost prefer lab created tbh.

My engagement ring is actually a sapphire off set by two teeny diamonds, but it's perfect. :)

My wedding band is stainless steel, DH's is titanium iirc.

I would completely okay with lab-created gemstones, and I agree with the sentiment that a wedding ring is symbolic. I would rather receive something custom made that suits my personality, his, and our particular relationship, than a gold-and-diamond Wedding Band marketed as such. titanium and hematite, or something. probably. that would be a lovely ring, dark and unique and beautiful.

No, I wouldn't care as long as he wasn't trying to pass it off as something it wasn't.

But really I never wanted anything with a huge stone in it and I rarely wear my rings anyway and I DEFINITELY did not want a huge sum of money dropped on a ring. I'd rather he propose with a down payment on a house LOL

It wouldn't matter to me at all. (I actually don't care for stones on rings at all, my wedding band doesn't have any and I didn't really have an engagement ring.)

I might would prefer a lab created one. Honestly I just would want something simple and understated and practical. If youre going to spend thousands of dollars do it on something more useful than a Ring. I do think I'd want a 'clear' stone like a diamond because the others just don't look wedding ring to me.

I would want a diamond (versus a "knock off" non-diamond). But I wouldn't care if it was lab grown or "real". It's still a diamond in my book!

Same here!

My engagement ring and wedding band are both white gold with diamonds. Having the rings were important to me, and I wouldn't have wanted fake diamonds.

I really wouldn't care. If someone loves me enough to marry me, and I love them enough to marry them, I know that they would get me a diamond if they could afford one and if they can't, that's fine. I don't care. I'd love a diamond, but honestly, a ring out of a $.25 machine is just as sweet to me. :) But of course it depends on the intentions. Which like I'd said depends on the man, and if I say yes to someone, they're going to be someone that I trust and love.
