We went to a beginners thing. There is a group about 40 minutes from here. They were lots of fun, super helpful, just a good group of people working with a bunch of young dogs who did not think jumping into a pool on a rainy, chilly, May day was a good idea.

I gave my husband the camera and he got a few pictures. I'll get them up and posted when i have a computer again.

I've only been to one (and we didn't do so hot) but I liked it a lot.
You went to the Hudson Valley pool right?

Wooooould you want to rent the pool together sometime soon and play for an hour or two?

We didn't do too well either. I need better floating toys. I really want the firehose tug/ floaty things. But it was fun and that is what matters!

Yep :) they have pictures up on their facebook page.

I would TOTALLY be up for that. Maybe Julee would be interesed too?

Seven - the only two dogs that willingly jumped were pit-type dogs, but i don't think that this was their first time at the pool

I've been wanting to try dock diving for a while now. Looks like so much fun. Depending on the day, I would be down for a diving meet-up too.

I'm SO excited to try tomorrow! At the same place where we did our agility classes -- it's a really nice facility.

Jackson is very comfortable in water AND jumping into my dads pool but he's never been off a dock before, so I'm insanely curious to see how he'll do outside of his "comfort zone".

Mira and I have done it twice and would really like to try again. There was a competition near here this weekend, actually, but she's in heat so no dice :( Usually we don't have any within 2 hours, which is more or less my outer radius.

The first time we went was just a practice funtime thing at a county fair. We happened to be nearby (visiting family) so went. It was a lot of fun. The guys running it were giving me this pep talk about how it's okay if your dog doesn't want to jump right away, etc., and I kept telling them this was probably not going to be an issue...I have a water-crazy Flatcoat...sure enough I unclipped her lead, released her, and started walking up the stairs to the dock...I had barely reached the flat when Mira jumped into the pool at the other end of the dock and treaded water, waiting for me to throw the toy that was still in my hand...lol

The second time was an actual competition, and indoors which was really weird for both of us lol. From the dock it looked like jumping into bleachers until the last minute. We don't really have style...I just chuck the toy to the far end of the pool and let her go. But we had a lot of fun and she did pretty well for an amateur. Not exactly a 26'-ers like some of the hardcore folks there, but we could hold our heads up anyway :)

We found another dock, it's gorgeous, and joined X-treme air dogs today

Two docks and a puppy dock.

We love it even as our "for fun" sport. Sloan tried speed retrieve for the first time which was fun. Mostly we did a lot if targeting work and just let them swim since we were coming off Schutzhund.

I hope you guys have fun!!

After the beginners time, some of the more experienced dogs jumped. I tried to tell Hudson that he should watch and learn.

Uh, YES. I've been wanting to do it for ever and ever and ever but just... haven't had anyone to go with. I have two dogs (Em and Bloo) that would be totally up for it right now. It's only about half an hour from me. Totally worth getting a membership.

I have a Chuckit Gator that is awesome. And wubbas.

We went to a competition and during the practice runs, Romeo jumped twice but there was a blind where the ramp was, he couldn't see me and didn't know where to get out. And then during the competition runs, the loud speaker was blaring and I think it was just too much.

I'm free Fridays and Saturdays mostly. I'm trying to figure it out though..
The pool is open for HVDD members only and is available for members to rent for training and practice 7 days a week, provided there are no other events or renters scheduled. New members must be accompanied by a club member for their first rental.
but
You can rent the pool as a non-member as long as there is a member available to oversee, just contact [email protected]. The prices to rent are on the pool rental page. You can also check our event calendar and see when our next practice or fun jump is and give us a visit then.
I might only be able to come out once or twice, and where I'm probably moving...I'll pay half of someone's membership and the pool rental if I can come along? Are you a member Lost?

Excited for dock diving tomorrow. Last time cricket was NOT happy about going completely underwater and wouldn't go off the dock again so I got her a lifevest so we can try it again.

I need to remember to bring my camera

It looks like so much fun; I was really bummed I couldn't get Gusto to jump the time we got to try it. We spent a bunch of the summer jumping off rocks into the water, but the dock was just too much for him.

I love watching it though, and can't wait to see the pictures!

Aaaaugh so so so jealous and can't wait to see the pics!!

There is a club in Southern Illinois who is planning on a fun jump thing, hopefully soon but they don't have dates yet. I WILL be taking Payton whenever they do it! And if he plays then I'm totally game to drive to the St. Louis area to play more LOL, but right now I have zero desire to drive 3+ hours and have my dog not jump in the pool haha.

I keep saying I should just quit my job and open my own canine sports center including a pool. =P

I can't wait to do dock diving with Abbers! we're hoping to give it a try this summer!
Hey! Where in GA are you? There are atleast 2 pools in the Atlanta-area and many events this summer in GA!

Seriously, you should. We go to a Canine 'Ranch' for our pool time. Plot of land, boarding kennels, agility, pool, sheep, classes, etc. People LOVE it. It's such a great idea.
