Ok, so if anyone remembers I had to move last summer bc of my super awesome sister.

Anyway, I ended up quitting my job bc the commute/pay ratio wasn't enough to make it worth my time. I had a massive load the past 2 semesters, so I decided not to find work... Plus there's not much local to where I live anyway.

Well, now it's time for me to start looking for a part time job. A kennel position opened at the local vet's office which would be great bc it's one of the few things that is within a few minutes, everything else is 30 min+ away. Basically I want this job.

Here's the catch, I can't start until June 3rd. My mom had her "wonderful" husband bail on her.... She's been with my sister sorting things out bc he left with ALL their savings. Now she's ready to head back and I have to drive her and her dogs out there. So I have finals then roadtrip, then I'll be back by June 3rd. Also, I'm licensed as a CNA... So really I should be looking into that field. LOL. But I'd rather do kennel work close to home than CNA work farther away. I'd look for per diem CNA to keep my license... But I really hate commuting.

So, do I apply or no?

Apply and let them know your projected start date. They may not have plans for the person to start right away anyway. It may be June 3rd by the time they are done interviewing and make their decision anyway. Realistically, if somebody had another job, they would likely be looking at two weeks out anyway, which if they interviewed next week and made their decision immediately would be June 3rd.

Apply.

I applied, but I got the feeling they're willing to hire the first person that walks in and says they can start today. We'll see what happens. I'd really like the job, but it's not the end of the world if I don't get it.

Definitely apply. We're hiring for a kennel person at the clinic, and we posted ads last week. Realistically, we'll be lucky to have someone hired and starting in 2 months. Last time it took us OVER A YEAR to find someone and get them in. If they're hiring now, June 3 really isn't that far away. I don't think I've ever been interviewed, hired, and on the job that quickly.

I wish your clinic was closer! There's a high population of people here, jobs seem to fill up fairly quickly.
Well, you'll just have to move to Kansas then.

That said, we get a lot of applicants. They're just all idiots and my boss takes forever.

Every job I've started has taken weeks if not months before they were ready for me to start.
