I have nothing to contribute, but since this is something I'll be faced with this year, super helpful thread. Thank you for starting it!

I don't remember thinking about it much. I think it was much more about me being excited to go to college and do that, then it was about moving out. I moved back in for the summer for the first couple years because I worked construction back home.

I've always been a kind of go with the flow person. I could live at "home" today if I had to and not think much of it, my wife might have other ideas though :)

I know this great apartment...where all the cool kids live.... :p just sayin.
Haha! Right on. :p I do know that I totally don't want to leave the area because... I hate change.

This Mint.com is nifty! I apparently will have my credit card paid off this month, which I totally did not know until I linked it on there. :rofl1: I'll have to play around with this more.

I love it here. If I could find this on a smaller scale with a giant fenced backyard, I'd never really need to leave.

It'd be nice if Tim wanted to come along someday, though!

You have to. Because then 4 chazzers would be living in one building. How amazing.

This is a great website! Lots of useful info, I totally forgot I used it when I moved out
http://firstapartmentguide.com/
There is a useful rent calculator and some great checklists for things you would need!

And a few things I totally forgot when I went apartment shopping but wish I didn't :rofl1:
- A toolbox
- Baking soda & Vinegar (the combo will clean just about everything)
- Extension cords
- Bottle/wine opener
- Febreze. In bulk :rofl1:
- Scissors. They dissapear. buy a few.
- Foreman grill. Handy and small! Perfect for meals for one
- Earplugs & Eye mask. Sometimes apartment living is weird, sometimes neighbors are loud, sometimes windows let the light in ALL THE TIME
- Extra storage (drawers, boxes, holders, baskets.. these are AWESOME!)
- Command hooks. I use them everywhere lol perfect if you are renting!
PLUNGER!! RULE #1!! BUY A PLUNGER BEFORE YOU NEED A PLUNGER!!

I'm trying to move out atm.
I say trying because it's hard enough to find someone that wants to rent to someone with dogs in my price range where I want to live. Been looking for over a month and have only seen one house we are interested in.

I'm planning on moving out with my brother but after the first 6 month lease he'd probably like to go overseas so I'll have to find a roomie.
I don't have any friends ready to move out, even less so ready to move in with me and the dogs.

The thing thats driving me mad is my brother wants a house, not a duplex or townhouse, fine by me but he doesn't want to leave me with a huge rent when he goes. He'd personally rahter live in an apartment and is happy to argue about us needing a large backyard therefore NEEDing a house.
I'd be happy to give the dogs a small backyard, they arn't barkers. Quinn comes to work most days and Buster can go to my Mum's when I'm out.
Apparently I'm cruel for even considering it.
