Maybe this is an indelicate question, but this is where most of the Vibram wearers I know are! Do any of you that wear Vibrams, do your shoes ever get just an ungodly oder? I had to throw mine out it got so bad. I wore Komodo Sports as my every day shoe and they got wet a lot. That's kind of unavoidable, I would think shoes would be manufactured to deal with that though.

Any advice?

Mine get stinky pretty quickly, especially if I wear them wet. Less so if I wear socks with them. Washing them (in the washer) helps A LOT. I've heard baby powder in them every time you take them off helps, but I'm entirely too lazy for that. Soaking them in a bucket of water with denture cleaner helps too.

Do you think something like the Flow, with wetsuit material would help? Or be too hot for daily use in the summer?

Ugh, I don't want to wear socks. :( Do they take away from the barefoot feel?

Socks barely affect the ground feel. However they do get warm in warm weather, so I only wear them when it's cold and dry.

I would think the Flow would get even stinkier, but I've never actually tried them.

I have definitely run into this, I think the washing them is what helped break down my first pair so I am hesitant about washing my second pair now. I did use gold bond foot powder and it held off the odor, a lot.

I have considered socks but I wonder if I will even have room in my shoes for socks? Do you buy a size bigger to fit them? Where do you buy the socks?

I get socks the same place I get my VFFs, they're Injinji toe socks. They're actually foot-shaped so they fit better than most toe socks. I BARELY have room for socks in my current pair, which is a snug fit. I had tons of room in my last pair, but they were a men's size and a wee bit on the big side anyway. They do make really thin socks, too.

Oh, the foot funk...lol

I use a mixture of the following:

1) Soak them overnight in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. I put mine in a gallon ziploc bag and make it so it is almost like its vacuum sealed.

2) Dry them in sunlight - you'll be amazed how much this helps.

3) Use a tea tree oil spray before putting your shoes on. I do it maybe 2-3 times a week. You can mix this yourself or buy it.

I use the washer every 1-3x I wear them. I just treat them like socks instead of shoes.

Awesome suggestions. Zoom and I were just wondering about you. How are you? <3

I suggest multiple pairs so you can rotate them. Yep. That's why I have 5 pairs, I swear. ;)

I generally wash my VFFs every 2-4 wears and when I do, I use pet odor solution on them first (soaking the footbed). So far this has been very effective.

I do notice that my Lontras are more prone to odor since they don't breathe as well, so I suspect the Flows would be worse than your KS.

Nature's Miracle!

Spray liberally inside the shoe, let it soak for about an hour, then machine wash. Easy as that. :)
