My parents came back from Germany to DC for another "tour" working there. I haven't seen them in almost two years and we just got done planning a spontaneous weekend trip out there. Also, we'll be staying in a hotel since my parents are still looking for a house... And it's a much needed break. Work has been so stressful for the both of us this year.

God bless the internet, where procrastinators* can get copies of all the tax documents they misplaced at the last minute.

*Technically, my tax preparer was being a snowbird out of town until last week. However, I didn't have everything neatly together, either.

We ordered new carpets and we have picked some vinyl tiles for the kitchen and the room next to the kitchen (aka dog room).

This is huge! The carpets haven't been changed since the 80's, and many of them are from the 70s, 60s and beyond (you've seen my photos...).

We are going to have no more floral carpets!!!

We even have new carpet for the bedroom. It's going to make a massive difference!

Just need none 70s curtains now.... Oh and a full renovation :D

You'd think living in an 18th century ex coaching inn/pub would be fun.

It's not, it's drafty!

Donny got a job! I'm tentatively really excited. He goes in for training on Thursday at four.

We had a fight because he said he was starting school in the spring... but by spring he meant summer, and I came unglued.

This solves the problem...

if it pans out.

My cat can hold a sit stay (albeit only for a few seconds) outside. He's a kitty genius. Kind of considering getting him started on the clicker.

As many know, I live at a shepherd kennel. I'm usually very good at not getting too attached to the kennel dogs, as fact is most of them aren't here forever. Well, I sort of fell in love with Adele (she was a puppy last time I was here), my boss thought about it and (without me asking) told me my name is going on Adele's papers and she is staying! Another bonus perk is that she now gets to sleep in bed with everyone else. ;)

I'm having a period, all by myself, TWO months in a row. THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED! :rofl1:

Also, my dogs have both been uncrated for a week now due to a lack of crates (Logan's big wire one is STILL in my trunk from the dog show, I'm lazy, and I would feel bad crating Gavroche and not Logan lol). I'm going to rearrange my room so that I have just the one big crate (which is now topped with plywood so it can be a table!), and put the little crate in the other room somewhere, and put dog beds all over the place. I want one room to be a bedroom/dog room, and the other room can be my office/storage room. Only problem is I feel the need to do this TONIGHT, when I also have a test tomorrow. WHY DO I ALWAYS DO THIS?

I didn't realize pig ears could actually last more than 5 seconds. Juno and Happy have been gnawing away on theirs for about 10 minutes now and Juno at least still has half of hers left. I don't buy them because I thought they were worthless, but we had a client donate a box to the clinic, we obviously can't give them to our boarders and nobody else wanted them sooo... I took the box home lol. The dogs are pleased, and so am I!

Yay free stuff! He also donated some bags of Wysong senior, I snagged a couple of those too, not something I'm interested in feeding the dogs but looks like it'll make suitable rat food. :) Which is good, because I was actually needing to buy them more food this weekend anyway.

Had a hella good time at bitework. Talked with lots of people, made some new friends, and my dog was on fire. Last week, after a 2 wk gap with no training, she was a little shallow in her grips and acting tired. No such issues tonight.

There were some new people there with an American Bulldog that had been "trained" somewhere else by harassing/terrifying him into defensive bites. They had no idea that wasn't how it was supposed to go. But Blossom got to be the example of what a properly started, comfortable, confident, green dog should look like while working in prey drive.

And she was quiet and settled in her kennel when not working, no bark collar needed! Good girl. :)

Now to beat back this crazy headache.

I'm at an allergy specialist, just heard that I am NOT allergic to dogs or cats, among other things. So relieved. :D

I just sat a TWO-HOUR exam with Logan. That's the longest he's had to stay in one spot and be quiet since we saw Les Mis in Kansas City when he was a year and a half. He did not make a sound. I'm so happy :)

(Usually tests aren't this long, but it was an essay test, and he asked about dogs and communication, so...)

Totally just got a tooth brush and tooth paste (vanilla mint flavor! Yum!) for the dogs. Totally just made them all succumb to my BRUSH ALL THE TEETH mood. I'm hoping that if I can stick with it, I may not have a Dachshund and Yorkie mouth dental in my future...and I can keep Cynder's getting-up-there-in-age teeth still looking good.

Do they like it? lol mine hate the vanilla/minty ones. Poultry and beef all the way! I've started getting mine from Dr Fosters & Smith and their poultry one actually smells... pleasant. So win-win.

Something about today was fulfilling. I tend to lose sight of what actually drew me to this job in the first place, and find myself thinking like everyone else - "it's a job and work sucks." I get annoyed when we're super busy or when people call in last minute "needing" to be seen NAO. Somehow today I was able to let go of that, appreciate the job for what it is, and now I'm looking at tomorrow with a "bring it on" attitude. Although it does still upset me that it's Saturday and I don't get to sleep in. :p

I had a pay garnishment going on for about a year. I don't make enough to actually be garnished, so a total of maybe $100 over the last year had been sent in. Today my boss informed me the company had released the garnishment, and so I'm no longer under threat to have my pay taken if I ever actually made enough to be taken. In short, it doesn't change anything. But it means I can possibly find a full-time job and actually be able to LIVE off of it some time! (The garnishment said that anything over $471 per pay check would be garnished, and I get paid twice monthly).
