So Someone in my Math class apparently had a male crested gecko in a cage with females I bet you can guess what happened next. :lol-sign: Babies, yeah....he said he was just giving them away so they could hopefully go somewhere, or he would let them go outside.

Anyways, I have a new addition. No idea if it's a boy or girl, it's a couple weeks old so I believe it can't be sexed yet? I have no idea's for names yet so idea's are great.

And just because I know it will be demanded on, pic.

Wow, he's neat! Are geckos hard to take care of?

Name him Smaug.
I've never had one before, but from all I've read they really aren't. I had frogs before and they seem like more care than this guy.

He's a crested gecko, so higher humidity, climbing areas, hiding hole with moss for extra humidity, premade food with a few crickets here and there. I have a under tank heater as it doesn't get hot enough during the day right now, but I've read depending on your area, you may be able to get away without it. They don't need UVB lights, so we just use a nightime bulb for viewing and daylight for day time.

So far he's been doing well I think. He found his little hidey hole and is sleeping, but took the time to investigate his cage first. I love it when he licks his eyes LOL :p

Does he have more? That's so sad that he wants to set them free!

Adorable.
I know, I tried to tell him they can't survive in this area, but he just kinda shrugged. He does have two more left. I thought about getting two, but I'm terrified I'll have two males, or male and female. And they will either kill each other or have babies, and I don't want either. At the very least he re-homed of the male he had, so no more babies after these go. I did tell him to tell me before he let them "free" if he ended up doing that. At the very least I figure I can keep three babies without killing each other to find them a new home?

ADORABLE!!!!!! <3 Congrats! That's so sad he was going to let them go. It would be much more humane to just destroy the eggs, instead of letting them hatch out and let them get killed from starvation/exposure/predation.

Crested geckos are SUPER easy! No heat, light, or bugs required. Easier than fish.

Also, I have come to the conclusion that crested geckos are contagious :rofl1:

THEY ARE. It's kind of crazy.

Ten (my gecko) is misted once a day, eats a pre formulated "crested gecko diet" by Repashy, though I may be switching him to something Sael recommended, as he's not too keen on it. He's got a huge 48 gallon all to himself, and trying to keep from purchasing an adult female is really really hard. :p

So this guy now has a name!! (Well, may or may not be a guy, but oh well lol)

His name is Temeraire! ^_^ I loved the book series and it just seems to fit :) I probably don't pronounce it right, but I'm calling him Tam-rare

LOL They might be contagious lol

We actually have to have a heat lamp (low wattage though) and under tank heater as it's too cold in our apartment. Why is it cold in my apartment? I'm on the third floor so all the heat floats to us, but my boyfriend can't stand the heat above 65f at all so he opens the window's and turns on the fans like he is dying. :rofl1: So little guy get's lots of warm, keeps his tank at about 75F during and the lamp being infrared doesn't bother him. During the summer when it get's a bit warmer we might be able to get rid of it for a while.
